Dance The Night Away Solo

I've been trying to get this particular solo down for a while now. I know what tap harmonics are and I've memorized most of the patterns he uses live but on this particular piece I can't seem to get it right. I dont have that many effects but I do own a phase 90 and a delay unit built into my amp and I'm not quite sure if it reguires delay. I know the tabs for the song in my head but everytime I play it, it comes out as a blurr or atleast the 9,9,9 (tapping on all 3 strings on that fret) works out but the indivigual tapping comes out rather crappy sounding. Does he use a compressor or is there an easier technique to playing this piece?

Also supposdly he mixed the phaser with 50% dry signal to get that sound on the record for that solo and it was before.. the preamp distortion which I'm not sure what that means??

you dont need to use any effects. all you need to do is back off the volume on your guitar a little bit in order to clean up the signal a little and it will come out just like on the record. you can use use the phase 90 if you like, but a light chorus effect works best.

Hey thanks rolling the volume back worked! And the chorus got pretty close to the sound! Actually on one run I added slight phase to the chorus and thought it was even better sounding!
