Guitars 101 Lesson / Eb nut exercise

Hi all, here's a lick I like to play when shredding. It sounds a lot tougher than it actually is to play.
Check out the tab and listen to the small mp3 version. See if you like it and give it a go. (Note: This one is in Eb because my guitar happened to be dropped 1/2 a step when I recorded it. It works just as well in standard tuning of course.)

I also like to take the same pattern shown and play it backward. Once you get the hang of it, you can use this lick in all or in parts to insert it into your solos or use as a transition between two phrases.

By the way, this works best if you assume the Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson stance, with one foot up on the return PA (or your Mama's footstool in the living room) while violentely shaking your head.

This gets even better if you let the guitar ring and feedback or do fast trills on the G string between open and the 9th fret while doing the horns with the right hand and grin in an evil way.

For the consumate showman you can also let a whole bottle of cheap beer drip down your throat as you do you wild trills. That's if you wanna be a badass like Zakk Wylde!

I have some stuff of my own that uses opens like that. Some people might consider it to be "easy" if they want, but it sure works well. If the oppurtunity is there, why not use em.

Yes, pretty neat licks can make use of the open position.
