lesson request : harmonics


can someone show me how to do natural, artificial and pinch harmonics? i dont get it what what most sites or books say.

If you don't understand it from books, I afraid we won't be of much help here either.
Maybe you can get a guitar teacher to show you at your music store. Ask for a lesson and you'll get it quick.

Yeah im gonna have to go with canyon carver. If books and articles cant explain it, how is someone on a forum going to? Your best bet is learning it in "real time" LOL.

pinched harmonics are hard to explain...just once u figure them out they are so obvious ive never seen a book that explains them well.

You might accidently play pinched harmonics sometimes, when your hand takes on a different angle.

In fact the best way to try this is to screw around with your angle of attack, holding the pick, barely sticking out of your fingers and see what happens...

It's all about the quick sequence of hitting the string with the pick then immediately (and briefly) have the string contact with your finger. This is what creates the squeeling sound.

You can also change the pitch of the squeal on the same fretted note by moving your hand position back and forth between the neck pickup and the bridge. Lotsa fun! [img]images/smilies/icon_jam.gif[/img]
