mean st. break section...


hey all,

Can anyone help me out with the little break section in Mean Streeets ?
The section with the slides about 2 min in or so ??

Hmmm... that tab for Mean Street is pretty weak, especially for the break that the original poster is talking about.

I play it (going from memory here) using D form chords, index finger on the D string, ring finger on the G and pinky on the B string, (think of a basic D chord using your index finger as the nut and not playing the high E string). I think it slides up from G to A (using that chord from slide from index finger at fret 5 to fret 7) and then the little riff is played in the A pentatonic box at the 5th fret.

Sorry I don't have tab, again I'm just going from memory, the positions I quoted might not be exact but it should give you an idea.

Also note that Ed doesn't use a wah-wah pedal on this at all... what you're hearing is his MXR Phase 90 phase shifter, kind of gives a subtle wah like tone. He used this on a *lot* of his solos on the DLR era albums.
