Ok i know these questions probably bore people alot so ill try to be as "to the point" as possible.
I realize that modes are strictly melody, but i was wondering how they are applied to a
chord progression with the pitch axis theory in mind (BTW is that the same a modal interchange?).
Say you are playing over a chord categorized as major for a few bars and you are using a C ionian mode. Then after a little while the there is a minor chord for a few bars. With the Pitch Axis in mind, would I have to switch to, say, C phrygian (or any other minor mode for that matter) in order for the melody/solo to be "right"?
