new guy here

Hi my name is Josh, I'm 24 years old and new to the forum. (first post actually)
well I have always liked the guitar since i seen my friend play, when I was 16 i bought one, I think a fender but never kept up with it. I gave it to my little brother and my mom pawned it cause it was collecting dust. after 8 years and my first time hearing Stevie ray Vaughan I decided to take it up. now i have been practicing everyday 30 minutes a day but realized I'm having a hard time tuning the guitar and learning chords. i have two lessons on Cd but after a month nothing still sound like shit. how long does it take the average person to play the guitar? Also does size matter (hand size that is)? I want to play a song now or something but it all sound like shit. thanks for the feed back and well any tips would help. also sorry for the life story.

Josh
