Re: Taking suggestions on first song. Looking for something easy.Oasis songs are usually pretty easy, or Bon Jovi. Of course, I'm not talking about the exact transcription here. If you can get the tab of just some chords and then strum along, it will be a huge confidence boost.
Try www.drycounty.com (I remember it had several popups though) for some cool Bon Jovi guitar tab. Someday I'll Be Saturday night is relatively easy to strum along to. I've posted Someday I'll Be Saturday Night here though, to spare you the pop ups, although the chords won't line up along the top of the words, which is annoying. Anyway, it's on the Crossroads album on the site... Someday I'll be Saturday night by Bon Jovi Transcribed by Ede Schönleber (wanted-doa@gmx.de) E A Hey man I'm alive I'm takin' each day and night at a time B A E I'm feelin' like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night E Hey my name is Jim, where did I go wrong G#m My life's a bargain basement, all the good shit's gone A I just cant hold a job, where do I belong E B E Been sleeping in my car, my dreams moved on E My name is Billy Jean, my love was bought and sold G#m I'm only sixteen, I feel a hundred years old A My foster daddy went and took my innocence away B The street life aint much better, but at least I'm gettin' paid C#m A Tuesday just might go my way E It can't get worse than yesterday G#m Thursdays, Fridays ain't been kind A F#m But somehow I'll survive E A Hey man I'm alive I'm takin' each day and night at a time E B Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by A Hey hey hey hey, man I gotta live my life E c#m Like I aint got nothin' but this roll of the dice B A E A Im feelin' like a Monday, but someday I'll be Saturday night E Now I can't say my name, or tell you where I am G#m I want to blow myself away, dont know if I can A I wish that I could be in some other time and place B With someone elses soul, someone elses face C#m A Oh Tuesday just might go my way E It can't get worse than yesterday G#m Thursdays, Fridays aint been kind A F#m But somehow I'll survive E A Hey man I'm alive I'm takin' each day and night at a time E B Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by A B Hey hey hey hey, man I gotta live my life E C#m Im gonna pick up all the pieces and what's left of my pride B A E Im feelin' like a Monday, but someday I'll be Saturday night A E A ( starts on last mesure of chorus) E A E A Oh_____ Saturday night Here we go E Some day I'll be Saturday night A I'll be back on my feet, I'll be doin alright E It may not be tomorrow baby, thats OK A I aint goin' down, gonna find a way, hey hey hey E A Hey man I'm alive I'm takin' each day and night at a time E B Yeh Im down, but I know I'll get by E Hey hey hey hey, man gotta live my life E C#m Like I aint got nothin' but this roll of the dice B A E Im feelin' like a Monday, but someday I'll be Saturday night B A E Im feelin' like a Monday, but someday I'll be Saturday night A E A ( starts on last mesure of chorus) E A E A Saturday night__________, all right, all right E A Saturday night__________, But saying that, so are The Beatles songs, if you're just wanting to strum the chords. Hope this helps ! |

Re: Taking suggestions on first song. Looking for something easy.Greenday is the epitome of what a first song should be! Go for songs like Brain Stew and things like that. Dead simple. God i wish all songs were like that! My first proper song i learnt was Paranoid by Sabbath so that may be a good one. The main thing is that you learn songs you like, as its not much fun and is much harder learning songs you dont like so much!
Good luck! |

[/ QUOTE ] Towlie, that's exactly what I was going to add as an after thought. You have to like the song and at least be able to figure out what it sounds like in your head. Or, have the song in front of you, playing away so you can figure out what you are supposed to sound like. And remember, practise makes perfect. Over and over agin. I remember learning Mr. Big's To Be With You, and it sounded like shite at first, but eventually, it all comes together. |

Re: Taking suggestions on first song. Looking for something easy. How about 'Sweet Home Alabama'? D C and fuggin' G ad infinitum with some pentatonice blues scales in the key of D (10th fret) and some nice D major interspersed thruout.

We used to bang this out at University all the time and just noodle around for AGES at the end of it, getting more and more high... |

Re: Taking suggestions on first song. Looking for something easy.actually I taught him a bunch of scales and techniques, tapping, alternate and tremolo picking etc. and eruption tended to put everything together.
Once he learns that most a lot of other songs should become easy |
