Howdy Folks,

In Van Halen's Eruption in the tapping part Eddie taps in quadruplets however, i have NO IDEA WHAT SO EVER on how to tap quadruplets. i dont know where to hammer on and off. i do know how to tap in triplets. Can anybody teach me howto tap quadruplets so i can exactly learn the eruption tapping part.

here is an example taken out of eruption:

(9)-2-5-2 (9)-2-5-2 etc..

I've played it forever and it's a triplet phrasing mate regardless of what the tab says...check out my tab and explanation in Lessons and Tab and you can also hear it played slowed down

Wah is right, no quads in eruption. However spanish fly has quads: 12-7-5-0-5-7-12-etc....

Interesting. From looking at the tab, I can't figure out what he means here. I'd have to have a stab with the tab in front of me and a guitar in my hand (obviously ) to see what he is on about.

However, I can't play it properly anyway, so

It's too bad that when the recording of his lesson is slowed down to half speed you can hear him playing triplets.

It's kinda funny that he tabs it out in quads, talks about how you should play it in quads - Yet when he records it, he does it in triplets. Oops!

hehe. Regardless of the whole quads/triplets issue, it was a good lesson anyway. Thanks for the link
