Re: Theoy
Basically simple time signature use 2s and 4s. Compound time signatures use 3s 6s 9s and 12s. Duple Compound Signatures: 6/4, 6/8, 6/16. Quadruple Compound Signatures: 12/4, 12/8, 12/16. Triple Compound Signatures: 9/4, 9/8, 9/16.
They are what they are. One comment i have is that 6/8 is felt in two halfs (with the emphasis on 1 and 4).

Re: Theoy
the bottom number means what kind of note and the top note means how many of them in a bar ...
so 6/8 means 6 "8th notes" in a bar ... 8th notes are quavers .. they're called 8th notes because theres 8 of them in one semi brieve .. i wish i could find this picture of the note division it'd be easier to explain but hope that helps anyway

Re: Theoy
ok i found something that might help it explain ...
that's what an 8th note is ! ..
hehe if it were 4/4 .. there would be 4 quarter notes in a bar
let me know if theres any other problems !

Re: Theoy
you cant get the answer without use of the proper terminology. you cant explain thing in lamens terms, you have to learn the proper terms. :P

Re: Theoy
you dont get what i mean. he wasnt speaking lamens terms. he was using the right terminology. all my point is...is that my article on odd time signatures already explained that the top note is the amount, and the bottom note is the duration. if you read it you wouldnt have had to wonder.
