I do the talking bit at the beginning of 'Yankee Rose' but I don't use a wah pedal as it'd be too noisy for the rest of the set where there is NO wah whatsoever. Just don't look at it as scales at all. Find the prenunciation in the voice and do some close wild bends to get the character. Tab it? Like hell! [img]images/smilies/icon_lol.gif[/img]
A tip steve vai gave on his site for mastering the whammy is attempting to play simple melodies by just holding the same note and using the tremolo to bend the notes up or down.
Why do you call that talking guitar? I call that a bunch of amazing wammy work, because his jem has the perfect deep routed cavities for that stuff. Like mab said, hold 1 fret down, and let the wammy do the melody. Can be damn tough to find the notes perfectly.
