"A Few Good Drummers!"“Son, in this world there are bands. And in those bands you need drummers. Are you willing to do it? As a drummer, I have more responsibility that you can possibly fathom. You use words like ‘drunk’ and ‘out of shape’; those words are the very backbone of a life I spent drinking and partying in, and you see them as a punchline. You weep for your keyboard players and lead guiatrists, and you curse the drummer. You have that luxury of not knowing what I know: that the rhythm section, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, wins these audience you play to to. Truth? You can’t handle the truth, because deep down in places you don’t talk about in your band meetings, you want me in that band ; you need me in that band. I neither have the time nor inclination to explain myself to a guitar player who scores with the better looking chicks under the very blanket of rhythm that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just bought me a beer and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you crawl behind that drum kit and get sweaty. Either way, I DON‘T GIVE A DAMN who you think is responsible.”

Im with you on this one. Us drummers get joked about, but without us - all you guitar players are lost off-time. I gaurantee you, listen to a guitarist playing on their own, then listen to them with a drummer to back them up. The difference is that when there is a drummer present they are way more on time.
