A Religious Experience???
I think I just had one. I saw some footage of a guitarist who was the reason I picked a guitar up back in 1973!!!! Now that may not seem like much to some of you guys with your Video, DVD etc BUT I ain't seen ANY footage of this man since about 1976...THAT'S 29 YEARS!
I gotta thank Bluesplayer for sending me these DVD's...I sat there open-mouthed at the playing of a guy forgotten by most of the guitar world and I knew EVERY note in my head! Imagine they found a live video of Hendrix playing in some club and the set was a load of stuff you never thought you'd hear him play..THAT'S what just happened...
The band? Doubt you've heard of 'em...Be Bop Deluxe. The guitarist? Bil Nelson...
Thanks Art. Wonderful.

I was 11 when I first heard him play mate...bought the Axe Victim album as well as Alice Cooper " Billion Dollar Babies", Status Quo "Blue For You" and 10CC "Deceptive Bends" all around a similar time. Soon as I heard him I was hooked!
Funny watching him half pissed last night cos I didn't know ANY of his nuances or style or anything as I saw him once live in 1978 but nothing since-even video- so whereas I soaked up all my EVH, Lifeson, SRV etc styles, Bil Nelson's is a complete mystery to me but I can hear some of my stuff when I listen! Bizarre!

Bloody hell !
I was still swimming around when you first picked up a guitar !!!
Be interesting to hear some of his stuff. Everything you've exposed me too in the past has been good. Mind you, please don't let it be another mind fook like Metropolis Part 2 : Scenes From A Memory.
I'm addicted to that one and I still can't work it out and I still hear something new each time !!!
Great album, but I'm not sure how much more guitar addiction one can take !!!

Na, you're young and missed out on all the good stuff mate...it's all regurgitated stuff thats reformed these days...like hamburger pretending to be steak. I'm glad I saw the rise of rock, metal, the 1st issue of Kerrang!, hair bands etc. Sadly I had to put up with Death Metal, Emo and Thrash (which is the regurgitated, reformed stuff IMO) and now originality's been done, it's gonna be hard to think of which direction to go in without thinking of how to make a buck first. You can bet your bottom dollar that The Who and Zeppelin didn't have that thought...hell, there was no such thing as a rock star before Keith Moon came along!

Great post Wahwah! My first religious experience musically was hearing the "George of the Jungle" theme song for the first time. Think I jumped up and down on my parents bed so hard that I ruined the springs (good thing water beds had not been invented yet!).

I just saw this guy on Youtube, now granted thats all I know of him (2 songs) and 4 what it is, it is good but I think likening him 2 Hendrix is a little presumptuous, dontcha think?
