A Skip in the Record...

Do any of you guys remember having an album that skipped and you still remember that part of the song when you hear it today?

Or how about hearing a song today that you had on 8 track and you still remember where the change in tracks was?

I remember on the Van Halen one 8 track Little Dreamer faded between tracks 3 and 4,I still hear it that way...lol

8-tracks! Now I don't feel like the only old guy here..lol. Yes I had quite a few 8-tracks and records. I remember driving to school at 14, yes 14! , no license, listening to Priest "Sad Wings" 8-track or Van Halen I and it seems I kinda remember the same thing you said about Little Dreamer fading out then back in on the next track. Funny the things we remember from so long ago.

Or it would eat it.

I never saw an 8 track player that didn't regularly devour your favorite tapes.

I remember recording Dokken's "Tooth & Nail" from vinyl LP on to cassette tape and jogged the turntable on "Heartless Heart" at the Line "So Hot, Stone Cold, why'd you let me go?", so that it repeated "So Hot" ...

For years afterwards, I expected that extra phrase every time I played the damn song ..

Now instead of skipping you either get, with standard CD's, it shuffling through songs in blocks or, with mp3 CD's, really loud high pitched chirps and beeps that can turn your brain into mush....

Oh how technology improves...

Ugh.

I can't listen to Springsteen's "Born In The USA" without constantly hearing track skips in my head. Cover Me being the worst. Such a good song, too.

Then when I got an mp3 player, I had the ****tiest ripping program ever. It would bleep in the middle of songs. For an entire summer when we moved in '04 and I was computerless, I got so used to hearing "Good Enough," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Goin' Crazy," and "It's About Time" being the worst (which sucked because at the time IAT was still new). I can't listen to the tracks they were meant to sound ever again because of that.
