Really Zilla? Thats great...see, CVH fans know the signifigance of Dave and Al speaking on any level. I am the most intriuged by the fact that Dave spoke so openly about it in the press. He could have very well just done the dodgeball thing. Yet, he says, yeah, I talked to Al...and goes right into "The Inevitable Reunion".

I dont know about that Buckeye....It was Ed and Dave who pulled together in 96, unbeknownst to Al...Al wasn't informed until Dave was actually standing in 5150 to record MWM and CGTSNM. It was Dave and Ed again in 2000 when they tried to pull it off and blamed "lawyers" for it not happening then. I feel that Al has ALWAYS been the "brickwall" preventing the reunion from happening. Certainly not Ed, certainly not Mike...

I do agree that Edward needs to get his act together though. Maybe Dave and Al are planning an intervention for Ed together.

I think Dave knows full well that the only way this reunion would ever happen is if he would force their hands, and that's exactly what he is attempting to do with this. Call it a shrewd move on his part, and probably a very smart one. Now that the rumor is circulating, we'll find out pretty quick whether there is a likelihood of anything happening.

The best part of all of this is indeed the fact that he has spoken with Al. All of us CVH fans that have been waiting for a reunion know damn well that the strained relationship between Al and Dave was one of the biggest stumbling blocks there was. Some comments I've read suggest that Dave was being disrespectful by referring to Al simply as "the drummer". Big fucking deal - people want to twist everything into some big hidden meaning.

What I would be worried about is two things I have read regarding Ed. One is where I read that Dave was asked about Ed being a possible guest on the show and he replied that Ed was in his own world. Nothing wrong with Dave's reponse there, it just doesn't bode well if Ed is extremely hesitant to talk. An even worse sign was where he made the crack about Eddie being responsible for answering the phones when call-ins to the show were slow. Stuff like that isn't going get anything done easily, IMO. It may just be Dave's sense of humor, but I've always thought he should think a little more about the consequences of what he says before speaking.


Let's keep our hopes up, though. If it happens, you can count on me catching as many shows as I can and getting my party on with any of my buds from here that I can. My system's been lacking something since that last show I saw in Louisville back in 1985.

The reporter did that Wolf. I've read the story at many different places and all of them contain "the drummer, Al Van Halen". The Pittsburgh reporter, it appears, was looking to drum up something by leaving Al's name out. I thought the same as you did at first with Dave simply referring to Al as "the drummer". Cuz...we all know...referring to the boys in VH by the instrument they play has ALWAYS been reserved for Mike, or should I say...the bass player.

Either way, I was referring to comments I've seen on the message boards from people getting bent out of shape because of the way the reports said that. Hell, it makes no difference to me whether it was a reporter's comment or a web user - I just don't think it needs to have a whole lot read into it, that's all.
