[quote=VHFan]I have a few questions that I need answered. I'm not being rude....just curious:
Why don't you have air conditioning in the airport? Does anybody have it? Portable conditioning units are getting more popular for the odd hot summer but most of the time wedon't have the climate. Most new cars have air con tho'. Why do you like your martini's shaken...not stirred? Just Ian Fleming's writing style mate...the character of James Bond. Do you all agree that Baby Spice has gone from a "porker" to one hot piece of ass in recent years like we do? er...not really. Young English women really go for it now! I mean drink, smoke, shag anything that moves ...they really wanna be men! Do you notice that breast implants are getting more popular over there...as they are here? MORE popular than a few years ago but not as big as Stateside (the craze not the implants!) Do they have strip clubs on about every street....like they do in Texas? We got 3 in my town! But not really... How much is a typical lap dance? Do they have the 3 foot rule like in Florida? about a fiver (£5) rock bottom at FYEO (For Your Eyes Only) What's the difference between a pound and a quid? Nothing...quid is a slang term like buck and dollar Do you think the mini cooper is a really cool car to own....like many american teenagers? NOPE! It's now made by BMW...nothing much British about it! Is the stereotype that english people have bad teeth really true...or just an Austin Powers thing? More a '60's thing I think tho we don't go for all that cosmetic dental surgery nonsense. Do you guys think the Austin powers movies are funny...or insulting? Great...if you can't laugh at yourself, who can ya? Do you actually stop working every afternoon at 2:00 for a spot of tea? er NO! Is it really as rainy, damp, and foggy there as we think? Some places...South is warmer than North (duh!) Foggy? Depends on how high up you live and time of the year. We get a fair bit of fog in High Wycombe...but we're HIGH, hence name. Do the bobbys carry guns? Now they are starting to in London and other big cities. Why do you call the police bobbys? After Robert Peel (Bobby Peel) Why do you call trucks lorrys? No idea! Why do you call evevators lifts? Why do you call lifts elevators???? Why does the queen have all the money, but no power to do anything? Well she owns all that property and 1000's of acres of prime land. She DOES have the power to take Parliament down if need be. Do you really take packs of 50 beagles and chase down a poor fox just for sport? Sadly yes. There's two arguements. One is that without them, foxes would overun contry areas taking all the poultry BUT there's far better way's of reducing numbers of predators than this old fashioned cruel sport. If London is drowning and you live by the river....is that a bad thing? The Thames Barrier was put up in the early 80's but seal level Will rise...I think London and prolly the entire East Sea Board of the US will dissapear within 200 years. What does "Never mind the Bullocks" mean? Bollocks not bullocks...bollocks = testicles! Just an album title! Sex Pistols. What does "If there's a bustle in your hedgegrow" mean? What the hell is a Hedgegrow? No idea...I'll ask Bob Plant next time I see him. Hedgerow is a bush. What's a spring clean for the mayqueen? er...the May Queen gets her house cleaned! Do people typically drop a lot a acid over there before they write songs? Dance fraternity maybe...can't say I know anybody who does. How long does it take to ride in the chunnel over to Amsterdam? about 30 minutes but it's to Calais in France not Amsterdam. Do the special task force police guys EVER negotiate with people holding hostages? Yep. But shooting them in the eye saves a lot of tax payers money. Does the I.R.A. still threaten the royals...or is that over? Over but I don't think many of them would do a walkabout thru some streets in Belfast. Hatred is still rife even if murder isn't so. What do you call "English muffins" over there? Well I call 'em muffins! What do you call "French toast"? French Toast! Just how friggin big is Elton John's house? Not as big as Ozzy's! Why does "Boy" George call himself Boy? Just a name...it's worked for him. Even if ya don't like the guy you remember his name from 20 years ago! Aside from Elton, Boy George, Rob Halford, Freddie Mercury, Pete Townsend, Mick and Bowie......are any more of your famous singers gay or Bi? Is that a trend? the 70's did that I think. Can't think of any newer stars. What percentage of your paycheck do they keep as "tax"? 24% I think. Why are guitars so expensive as compared to the states? Well Fender and Gibson are American...so you don't have high shipping costs. Are Marshall amps cheap to buy new over there? Cheaper than the US definitely. And what the hell is a "Crumpet" anyway? It's like a bread product. My wife has a $3000 dog that came from "Yorkshire". Where is that place and why are pets so expensive there? You were ripped off mate! They give 'em away with newspapers in Leeds! Why is it that everyone from England is such a good guitar player? Well, it would be shitty to generalise and say thats the case...what makes a good player anywhere? Practise and dedication? I can tell you why there's a lot of good players in the North of England? The audiences let you know if you're not!

What kind of products are manufactured over there? All I can think of that I've ever seen with a Made in England/Great Britan label were Triumph Motorcycles and Marshall Amps.
(Made in the USA is getting very rare here. Mexico and China are making most of what used to be manufactured here). |
