Look this sux!
This is the first post I'm making out of discontentment. Till now,I have been stating my opinion and takin in the responses. But... I relplied to an anti hip hop thread. Some of you came here to defend hip hop. I think poorly of that, but I'm not calling people names. I don't reply to who hates (fill in the blank) threads, if I don't want to hear it. I think a few of you should do the same! Now my opinion is I don't like hip hop. The only way to prove me wrong is to show I actually love hip hop. I actually agreed with most of the people here, about what sux. . Stiglar you said I never even heard the music.. The god damn thread is about commercial hip hop. I've heard alot!!!! You called me ignorant and ridiculous. Because I can't repeat all the lyrics I don't like. I never said I never heard it. I said I've heard alot, and to recite lyrics I'd have to do research, and I'm not willing to listen to hundred of hrs of it. You also claimed I said I know all about it. Wrong again! look, you're grasping at straws...the only thing you haven't thrown at me is to attack my typing. Reread the thread. Dannyboy, Untill this post I have been very cool. I stated my opinion, and defended it against attack. I never shat on what anyone else said, unless thay had me wrong. I never said anyones opinion of rap was wrong. I argued with people who told me my opinion was wrong. And when they couldn't twist my words they made up things. If I'm starting trouble in everyone's opinion here just tell me. I see more childish "FUCK YOU" wars here than anywhere else I post. If the skin is so thin here, that I can't disagree with a person who misquotes me and another that insists I'm wrong about my own fuckin opinion...thats sad I've had a fairly good time around here, untill I got to this thread. I think at this point it's best for us all to keep in mind that these are discussion boards. If a thread is begun with a pro or anti stance, that doesn't mean they are automatically feee-for-all "pile-ons". If somebody has a differing opinion, they have the right to voice it. We can't take offense when somebody's opinion differs from ours and feel the need to rip them a new one.
However, if it gets down to name calling and castigating someone for their point of view, then that's absolutely wrong. Most message boards frown on flame wars but cut a little slack with the presumption in mind that we are all adults that can keep our discussion civil. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. That said, we try not to close threads here unless it is absolutely necessary. If a thread bothers anyone to the point where they will get too upset with something and not be able to discuss it level-headedly, then they have the option to take themselves out of it. This thread is ok at this point - but if it gets ugly, I won't hesitate to close it. Let's keep it civil and not read into each others' comments too much. ![]()

Thanks Wolfman.
I'm at the point here, to say, the hell with it. Not the thread...the whole site. The only place I've been treated this bad is the LP forum... but I knew what I was gettin into over there. Everywhere I've been on the net (guitar related) people know "those guys". anyway...thanks again, for callin off the dogs Rob |

I used to feel the same way Blues. Back when i first joined. I have been in trouble more times than i remember. So i sympathise with how you are feeling. But i will stress Stiglar didn't CALL you ignorant and ridiculous . he said your comments made you LOOK that way. He didn't say you were and he never would.
I think some people misunderstand peoples intentions because the lack of emotion and movement in a persons voice is substituted by text on a screen that we have to interpret ourselves. If you dislike Rap and Hip Hop that is fine. But there are always going to be a conflict of interests and opinions no matter where you go. I'm not gonna get into it. But this kind of stuff happens daily with hundreds of different people so don't take it to heart mate. Honestly. I get in trouble all the time for spouting off lol.

The injustice is when white kids try to act black, talk black and they think they cool and they look like fools. Black people from the city think they are a joke.
Ya gotta be who you are, in any category. Hip hop has nothing to offer musically, or lyrically 99% of the time. i don't have time to search for the one percent that has anything decent to offer. ![]()

Thank you Danny My problem and frustration wasn't with being contradicted. I see lotsa people love stuff I don't. I only got pissed at the end when misquotes and poor comparisons had lead to name calling. I don't see myself as being in trouble here cause I didn't resort to any childishness...BUT I WAS CLOSE!! Hope to see you around. Rob |

It's pretty easy to condem an entire genre based on what you hear on the radio . And hey i'm not asking you to recite lyrics to prove me wrong or "research" you should do it for yourself , If there was a genre of music i despised and i had people telling me i was missing out on something , i'd check it out ! lyrics and all and if i still didn't like it at least i could explain it properly . Thats called listening to music rather than it's face value . Anyway i'm basically rerunning over my previous argument so this will be my last post on the matter |
mostly just prove you don't really know enough about the genre to be commenting on it .
I was giving my opinion. I also pointed out I have listened.
It's pretty easy to condem an entire genre based on what you hear on the radio .
I already said I'm not limited to radio rap! I've heard alot. I've been hearing it since 1979.I was 11 years old.
If there was a genre of music i despised and i had people telling me i was missing out on something , i'd check it out ! lyrics and all and if i still didn't like it at least i could explain it properly . Thats called listening to music rather than it's face value .
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Dude I'm not out to harrass you but, come on. What is this crap. Now I don't know how to listen to offensive music correctly? Why haven't you jumped on anyone else for their comments. I read "Sux Dung beetle arse" Here else where. was that a better opinion than mine. Just leave me alone. I never came after you, you have been hounding me...and you're pissed cause I'm not a wuss that will roll over. Or fly off the handle and get banned. (to our moderators admin and other members) I will not start a fight. I will not hound people I will not flame But I will correct someone eveytime they abuse my words like this child did. And I will not back down!! If this person leaves me alone I won't have anymore to say to him. If he persists in throwing crap my way, I will continue to shield myself...like it or not. Rob |

Rob, give it a rest, bro.
I really didn't see Stiglar's comments as attacking you. I can see how the wording may have made it seem like he was, but I've known him for a couple of years now and it's not his style. Relax, man. You're getting a little too defensive. Stating that you won't back down from an argument is not going to win you any sympathy with anybody, especially us mods (btw, Stiglar is an admin here. Everybody just let it go - we're not getting anywhere with this. If we want to discuss the topic like adults, fine. If not, I will close it - like it or not.

For a song to get a hold of me, it must possess something so powerful that it makes me wanna sing out loud or makes me "pound my fists in the air" or "bang on the steering wheel" while driving in order for me to like it. If all a song does is make me tap my finger or tap my foot, that just isn't enough. I get bored with such. I can watch a jazz band (and I have) and tap my foot or nod my head to the beat BUT that doesn't make me want to buy a jazz album or go see that band again....make sense? All that does is make me wanna ROCK!!!!!!!! Have you ever seen those "Heavy Metal Parking Lot" videos from the 80's where a bunch of headbangers are partying in a parking lot before a big metal concert and there's the guys with Judas Priest t-shirts, holding beers and chanting "Metal" woo-hoo! Well, I'm still one of those guys.. At 37 yrs old, I'm afraid my music taste isn't going to change if it hasn't already. Now do you have me figured out??I'm not alone, there are millions more like me..and I'm not ashamed of what I like, I'm proud of it as you are with your heroes.

Rob ,
I'm not looking for an argument with you here , You've missed the whole point of my posts , It wasn't meant as a personal attack . I've tried to explain myself many times . But each post you make is getting more and more personal towards me so i'm saying , chill ! And yes i am admin here , and i doubt you'll be banned for something like this as you'll find we're pretty laidback around here even when things heat up sometimes . so just chill out a bit . |
