Anyone else Anti Hip-Hop!I'm so sick of hip-hop, rap, jingles on commercials!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I try not to associate myself with any product that is advertised by a hip-hop jingle!) I'm sick of rap groups referred to as "Bands". WTF?? (No instruments being played = no band!!!) Unless someone grows up in the ghetto or south central LA, and is a minority gang member, then how the f*ck can they identify with this crap? If young media advertising executives didn't shove hip-hop down everyone's throats all the time, It would have been dead a long time ago. There's nothing musical about it..and most of the time they sample or steal tracks from popular rock songs to legitamize their own crap! I just don't get it. ![]()

Everyone has there own taste about music and other likes....Everyone has there own opinion about what they like or dislike....I am very opened minded about music and life itself.....I am mostly into 80's rock, but I do enjoy hip hop every now and then...Mostly old school style....I like to dance...So hip hop really brings it out in me..and I enjoy it...As I enjoy all music..

I won't slam you guys for listening to it, but I just don't get it personally.
I guess why i get so pissed off is because these guys are considered bands which is total oxymoron. The show on VH-1, "Making the Band" with Puff Daddy is rediculous!! What band????????? How can they name it that?? They are just a group of people who rhyme words to a drum machine. The market is extremely oversaturated with hip hop influences and these pinhead executives assume every man, woman and child likes this stuff. Everyone I know is sick to death of it. I just fail to see the talent behind it.

Yeah, I haven't any idea how the mass-market idefintied with hip-hop. It's just..weird.
Here's an interesting fact though, go over to the RIAA's consumer purchasing trends website and view their 10 year charts. Turns out for the past 10 years, purchasers have consistently purchased approximately twice as many "rock" albums then they have "rap or hiphop" albums. Yet for some reason, I'm bombarded with rap and hiphop in the media (except for Burger Kings "Chicken Fries" commercial and Esteban....) It's a conspiracy I tell ya! Oh here's the link: RIAA LINK

I won't try to convince anyone to like rap music, but there are rappers and producers behind the musics that are musicians. Most of the crap that you see on MTV and VH1 is commercial hip-hop, and is not true to the art form that is rap.
You want real rap check out: Pete Rock Gang Starr Talib Kwali Mos Def De La Soul A Tribe Called Quest Consequence Little Brother Black Moon Big Shug I can go on and on. Being a black man rap music is just as much apart of me as jazz, metal, classical, funk, etc. It's all music, and life's too short too write any genre off IMHO. I will say that commercial rap is shit though. Underground hip hop is where my heart is.

I've never been much into rap, never really cared....I'm a Metal/Hard Rock Guy. I just let em' do what they do, and I do what I do, and occasionally, I may even contribute to their work.
I don't even watch T.V., I don't even care. The whole world could become one big P-diddy show, and I'd still be standing on the mountains with my axe shredding and goin' "so what". The thing that bugs me about Hip Hop is not the actual music but the whole thug/gangsta mentality that goes with it in a lot of cases. I'm also tired of being pushed around and herded like a sheep when hanging with some of the types into that music. Maybe I place too much value on my independance...I don't know. |

It would still be just as wrong to shove rock, metal or anything else into peoples lives because a handful of people in charge of advertising think its cool to do so. I have black friends who are rock fans too and they also agree with me that enough is enough already with the hip hop on TV. It has nothing at all to do with racism or anything like that, I accept everyone no matter who they are, however, (and I love you Sucka my brother)...I do feel that it reflects the poor black "gangster" culture? At least it was originally right? I know it has evolved into soul and r&b some though? Comments?

It's not like back in the day when guy's had a message, wether it had a positive light or not. Guys like NWA were rapping about killing, drug dealing, cops on the take and stuff because it was reality. I know it was a reality to me growing up, and still is in a way. With commercial rap all you get is this fantasy shit, and kids see it and want all the money, girls and power. They don't realize that you have to bust your ass to get it. Instead they sell their souls to record execs and managers. Same goes for the current rock and pop scene. Basically if I'm gonna rock the music, I've got to be able to feel the message coming across. I feel VH because it's about chicks, fast cars, and shit that appeals to me. That I can deal with. I don't know what it's like to have a bunch of half naked women dancing around me as I smoke a stogie and a yacht, so that's why I can't feel Jay-Z. Can ya dig it? ![]()
