Are You Safe?

I picked up the local paper and found this article reguarding our 2 dams. As the article says, 2 dams were built in the 1940's to control the flooding......Here is the picture and the article.......sorry this isnt the greatest quality, I had to keep messin' with it to get it the right size for the website.

I think that is an issue that Anyone Who lives near water should contemplate...I live near a lake that I have seen go over the emergency spillway twice in My life, did alot of damage both times and nothing is ever done to update the structure..Makes Ya wonder

Sure does.....The very year I move back here, it flooded (1996). At the time I lived in town where I thought I would be safe. It rained so much that year, the dams couldn't take all the rising water so they had to do what they called a controlled flood to keep the water from spilling over the top and causing more damage. Everyone above the dams had to evacuate the areas due to all the flooding. Well the flood water surrounded the apartment building I was living in ( within 5-6 feet of my bedroom window) and was unable to go anywhere for acouple of days while the water finally went down. Ask Our Illustrious Leader Eric about this one, He knows first hand. Really surprised me, never woulda thought it could happen, til then.

How would Eric know anything about being stuck in your bedroom for two days?

as a matter of fact we even tried to get out of the parking lot in his car, of course he didnt want to be the only one being embarrassed at the time, so I and the kids went along for a pretty short ride.......we ended up in the middle of the street stuck in all that water in his car. lol
