Download to check it out, and if you like it and intend to keep it, then you should go out and buy it.

Re: File Sharing?
Hmm, too much spyware in these Peer to Peer programs. I'll just buy the stuff nowadays if I am interested in it...

Personally, I have no problem with file sharing. i do download quite a bit, but I also buy my fair share of cds. I pretty much use file sharing as a preview

I use WinMX.
Anyway, over the years I have bought more than my fair share of albums, tapes and CDs. More than enough to justify my downloading some tunes off the net. I have gone round and round with friends and family on the question of "If it's right" and all.
I can't see how Joe Six Pack is going to make Mr. Big Time Hollywood Rocker poor by downloading tunes off the net. Do you realize how much it costs to make a CD anyway?
I don't have a problem with it - I think it helps promote music. And thats a good thing. Plus, say you come up with some new "hacker proof" type CD - it will only be a matter of time that hackers will "find a way" to digitize it and download it.
Once the Genie was let out of the bottle, you won't be able to stop it. People still tade tunes on Usenet - no one can stop it now.

LOL There will never be any such thing as a hacker proof CD or one that can be protected (moron proof maybe, but hell they are already moron proof hehe). Anyone with recording software on their PC knows that if you can play it, you can record it.
I would do that with Napster tunes.
For anyone whom doesn't know, a Napster subscription let's you download license protected songs to your PC. As long as your subscription remains active (you pay your 9.95 a month), then you can listen to them ON YOUR PC any time you want.
However, if you want to burn them, you must pay 99 cents per song. The licensing prohibits them from being burnt without having paid the fee.
However, if you have a recording software like cool edit, you simply open it up and hit record and then hit play on windows media player to play your napster tune. When it is done playing, you have a recorded copy, in cool edit, that you can normalize and then export as an MP3. Now you can burn the sucker. I have never noticed any loss in quality that wasn't already in the original wmv file downloaded from Napster.

Hmm, I couldn't get to liking DC++. Too hit and miss for my liking. I could never get emule to work with my broadband connection and firewall. Just tried that new one, and I don't like the look and feel of it (plus it found a lot less than BearShare ever did).
Kazaa and Kazaalite I never liked either due to their random findings of songs and them not being what they said they were...
Overall, emule sounded the best, but I couldn't get it to work.
So far, I have found BearShare to be the "best" in terms of files found. I just don't like how it is riddled with spyware and stuff... I usually install it, find what I want, download it, and then completely clean my system out of the crap it installs
