File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

Guys, sure some of you are familiar with Guitar Battle? It's a new site to me and I was gonna put some stuff on there BUT I'm buggered if I can get any of my mp3's down to less than 750kb in size!!...any ideas?

Guess you'd have to select a very low bit-rate to achieve that, but the mp3 is gonna sound like yak dung on a stick.

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

You could try lowering the bit rate. I don't know how this is done, but think Cool Edit could probably do it.

i.e. import the mp3 to a track, and then export it to an mp3, but lower the bit rate in the settings.

Of course, I'm sure Eric or the others would have a simpler way...

Can you not host the file somewhere else and post the link to it on the site instead ?

I will eventually have to set some sort of limits here too. Things have been getting busier lately and I only have so much room on the server.

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

Well, to be honest, we don't REALLY need 360 kbps quality, even though I am the most guilty of this...

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

Don't you think that 750 is a bit tight to get any quality with tho? I've tried to change the setting from 44.1 to 22.05 to 11 in mono and it's STILL to big. Not sure how you change the bit rate cos I'm on about the khz aren't I???

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

how big of a song are you talking about, you would have to change it to single channel mono and encode it to a lower bit rate. try a 3 minute song.

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

750 kb is a bit tight. Quality will go...

Either that, or just record the "One Note Song"

Re: File Sizes...Guitar Battle?

Might not be too bad Eddieman but I can't fathom it. I wanted to put my blues track up for starters or the Satch track I did (Bells of Lal), I've fucked about but can't get them below about 1.5mb! This is even splitting the song in half AND doing a fade out early on! If I sent it to you Eddieman, would you be able to convert it to a smaller bitrate to make it less than 750kb?
