Man, there's a guy that does this at work. I used to do it on a small scale a long time back, but it was just such a ball ache !
I don't envy you one bit, but I appreciate and respect anyone who has the patience to do it.
I just get to the point where I wanna rip all the fuckers out, and just throw them all in a spaghetti heap on the floor !!!
Why do we have to make computer networks so complicated ?

This reminds me though. Do you wear those anti static overshoe covers on your feet, eric ? Well, we had a running joke with them. Any new guy that we'd take in their (usually had to be an Industrial Trainee or a fresh graduate, older, more experienced guys would have none of it), well we'd tell them that it was a cap tp wear on their heads to stop the static electricity from their hair from builiding up and conducting through to the hardware components and thus damaging the hardware.
Would be funny watching them walk around with a shower cap on their heads until it suddenly dawned on them that everyone else had them on their feet !!!!
Mind you, there were a few idiots who required two or three trips down there. Nothing funnier than seeing the bastard automatically reach for the cap and put it on their head !!!

Not to stir the pot, but that kind of work is usually reserved for desk top technicians. Sorry, had to say it! We will hold the fort. Can we ban while you are away?

There are only three of us that support roughly 250 users on the network. One day I am moving PC's and the next I am building servers, we don't have a "Full Service" IT dept. so we have to do all the grunt work also. But, I get minimum wage so it's worth it!

One day we are going to open up our browsers to CNN.com and see a picture of you with a bazooka holding computers as hostages, aren't we?

Tartan paint, a long stand, a bag of compressed air...it drove the Storeman crazy.

A bubble from a spirit level was my personal favourite. But yeah, the long stand is a good one... "Well, how long do you fucking wanna stand... "
Penny drop time...

Oh my god Eric!! That's hell!! Good luck on that my friend!
I had a similar experience before the Xmas vacation, my dpt is moving elsewhere, and we had to prepare everything..i got the most difficult job of detangling cables from three hubs, a switcher, and five pc's connected together plus the network cables..plus another setup of the same kind..i told myself that i've been naughty this year and Santa wanted to punish me...it was depresing...but i went through...so, courage my friend...and lotsa coffee!!!!
