Guilty Pleasures - Music
We all have guilty pleasures when it comes to music. Here are a few of mine:
Duran Duran - call me gay but they have some pretty good tunes with great hooks. John Taylor actually plays a pretty good bass.
Neil Diamond - His voice can be like a cheese-grater on my spinal cord but I really like a lot of his songs. "Love on the Rocks", "I am, I said", and "Cherry, Cherry" are classics.
Feel free to kick my ass now.

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
Okay man, you will feel Much less gay after hearing mine, I am a huge fan of 70's and early 80's cheese music.
ehem...
More than I can say (Leo Sayer)
Southern Nights (Glen Campbell)
Have You Never Been Mellow (Olivia Newton John - Don't care if she is 90 I still wanna spank her)
Afternoon Delight (Starlight Vocal Band)
These are just a few and I have a ton of mp3's, all of this sort of gay music. Now, I would perfer not to get my ass kicked as wip so graciously voluteered for. I will be keeping an eye out for you guys when I leave work so don't even think about it

Heck, no need to be embarrassed! Having an appreciation for different styles/types of music is cool in my book. As for me....
I love big band music such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc..
BLUEGRASS I love it!
Anything from Chet Atkins

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
I'm adding another guilty pleasure....
Bee Gees - the harmonies, the songwriting - sheer genius. They incorrectly got pidgeon-holed as a disco band and nothing could be further from the truth. They had a bevy of hits in the sixties and were relevant as late as 1997 with "Alone". Barry Gibb should be considered one of the best songwriters of the past 50 years regardless of music jenre.

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
Amen wip, I left them out of my first post but I am a huge fan of theirs. I recently got their two disc best of and it has most of their best stuff on it, even songs from way back before they were known for disco.
I agree that they got fucked over the disco thing, they were riding high at the time and didn't deserve that. They are truly a talented group and when Maurice died I felt it was a terrible loss, not only for his family but the fans too.
I also really enjoy Andy also "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" was a great song, the whole family was very talented.

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
Thanks Eric. To this day, "Our Love (Don't Throw it All Away)" is one of my favorite songs. Penned by Barry and sung by Andy, it's a pop masterpiece.

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
Hey has anyone noticed almost all these artists and CDs everyone mentioned have GREAT songs. Forget the glam and the pretty boy dancing and production. Just the songs themselves are great. I think its AWESOME you all are this open minded.
Did anyone mention Britney? I dig her CDs especially all the remixes. If I mentioned all the stuff I listened to that may be the last time anyone reads any of my posts ever again. LOL. Na just kidding, you are really an exceptional bunch to like that wide variety of music. I wish more players were like that.

Re: Guilty Pleasures - Music
I'm a big fan of good, tight vocal harmonies, so every now and then I'll get a brief hankering for something like Journey or REO. LOL
Thank God I can get a fix for that from The Eagles, Beach Boys, and several others though.
