Have you ever SEEN something go supersonic?
This is an amazing video of some sort of aircraft breaking the sound barrier at very low altitude and in close proximity to the camera. This is simply amazing to look at - you can actually SEE the barier becasue it becomes surrounded by fog as the vehicle passes through it. Hard to explain - click here.

Not so cool for the pilot tho..
....I live in a city with an airbase practically next door, but i have never seen a jet crossing the sound barrier, as they only do this waaaay, way out at sea....or in real desolate places. At least here... I have heard one tho, made by an f-16, and it sounds like a large explosion far far away....

Whew - Wonder if that guy made it out alive! Looked horrific. I guess that can happen when you are moving faster than the sound of a Marshall Stack at full volume eh?
