Hi there, Jethro. I don't know London at all that well, but I do know that everything's accessible via the tube. There's so many things to see. Saying that though, I always used to get the tube all the time. I then went up to Harrod's with the wife one time.
We got off at Waterloo Station and then my wife said, "Let's get a cab !" I was under the impression that it would be really expensive. Well, it turned out that it was about the same price as we would have paid for both of us on the tube, but we got a lovely drive past the houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, around Hyde Park and then into Knightsbridge, all of which we would have missed on the tube.
I dunno what to suggest, but I've been to the London Dungeon, Science Museum, Harrod's, as well as many of the shows and pubs and landmarks on the top. Also, the Open Top Bus tour is pretty good, but it's a wee bit nippy over here at the moment.
There's loads to see, and you can pretty much get to it all once you are here. Hopefully there's a lot more people who know London better on here that will be able to reply to you.
Cheers,
Let us know what time in May you will be over in case I can pop up, if only to say hello just for an hour or so, if your plans permit it.

Well Victoria Embankment ain't much but the River Thames but if you go along the Embankment towards the underground of the same name, you'll be right next door to Trafalgar Square and the West End is only 5 minutes thru Leicester Square (or Lie-sester as you guys from the other side of the pond like to pronounce it!). Also, the London Eye and the Museum of The Moving Image (MOMI) are across the bridge there at Embankment.
Bournemouth? She'll need a Sou'wester and a pair of wellies...it'll be about minus 2 there at the moment! This is basically the English Seaside and not much will be open until Easter week I'd imagine.
Trinity Square I think is in the City of Londodn so it'll be your typical office blocks and hundreds of Starbucks...tel her to try the Soup Shops!
I'd repeat what Mondy said Jethro, let us know when you're arriving and we'll take you out for some LOUD music. Sundays in Camden at The Fusillier and Firkin is Metalworks from abot 4pm onwards. Les Binks is on the drums (ex Priest) and Pete Freisen is on guitar ( Alice Cooper and Bruce Dickinson as well as plenty of others). Hell, ya can even get up and play some Maiden or Priest with the guys. Let me know and we'll have a blast.

How could I forget the London Eye ? Well worth the money ! I think it's half an hour in total. We were up there and all the women in our pod were scared of heights. Why the fook they went on a half hour ferris wheel ride with a fear of heights is beyond me.
Anyway, when we got to the heighest point, all the blokes were at the window admiring the view and all the ladies were sat on the seat in the middle of the pod putting their make up on using the little handbag mirrors so that their focus was on an object within the POD rather than having to loo at the view for the dizzy height that we were at.
You should have seen the wonky lipstick lines !!!
But yeah, the Millenium Eye is a must. If it's a clear warm day then you get good views, if it's cold, then at least your sheltered...
wahwah, I wanna go to that pub now !!! I can't wait for when jethro comes !!!

Yeah, the wife had different ideas! If you come via train to Wycombe Station mate, there's a pub next door called Finn Mc'Oulls (I think?!). Give us a buzz before Saturday and we'll arrange a time. Gig is about a mile away t a pub called The Red Lion on the London Road (old A40) heading out of High Wycombe. And it's
FREE!

Okay mate. Will have to check train times to make sure I can get back, otherwise I am driving and not drinking.I'll try to remember my ears this time so I can a) hear what you are all talking about in the pub, and b) recognise the songs they play.
I got so pissed last time because I couldn't take part in the conversations and since you two were yapping, you weren't drinking as fast. If I am driving, downing J2O after J2O just isn't going to do the trick, and it makes me fart !!!
Oh yeah, apologies to jethro for hijacking your thread !!!

there are some really cool markets that you might like. Camden is one of my favorites. lots of bargains, old stuff, records/cd's, etc.. and always a nice atmosphere.
you have to spend at least half a day in London Tower, and day trips to Windsor or Brighton are fun too.

If it's before Saturday 23rd May, you'll have to come to the Led Zep convention at Northampton. (thats about 60 miles north of London) Some of the guys from guit101 will be there. See Bluesplayer's sig for more details!
