JIMMY PAGE BOUGHT ME A DREAM THEATER DVD!!?!?!?!

In whats turning out to be a wierd day, I took my boy to football training tonight and met up with one of the other Dads. We got talking about 2 months ago and I mentioned I was in a VH tribute band. The following week he brings me 3 bootlegs from 1974-5 ONE of which I'm still waiting to find out from Van Halen devotees if anybody has actually heard this thing!!! So this week he gives me a Dream Theater DVD 'Live In Tokyo 1993' as I'd played him their latest album last a couple of weeks ago. I say,'where did ya get this then?'. He says, 'Jimmy Page was going to Tokyo and asked me if I wanted anything bringing back'!?!?!?!?! Apparently Jimmy went to Tokyo and came back with 1500 DVD's as everywhere he went, they hero worshipped him and he didn't pay for one of them!!! This guy is called Simon Pallett and he wrote a Led Zeppelin book as well as articles for Guitarist, Kerrang! etc. He also went off first class with Page Plant on the 1996 US tour...and I meet him at my son's football training. Now I'm not a huge fan of Jimmy Page but I have MUCH respect for someone who is still a living legend and still selling like buggery. Turns out he lives in South Kensington in London at the moment while a house in Surrey is being done up...and next time Simon goes to see him, I'm going too! Whats great is that as I don't hero worship him, I'll just be able to yap with him without getting my boxers in a twist. What also amazes me is, having spent a good chunk of my life trying to get IN on stuff with record companies etc, I get a demo of Van Halen that is so rare no-one can give me any info AND the chance to meet Jimmy Page by going to my 5 year olds football practise...you couldn't make it up!!! I'll ask him if he remembers you VanMan2000!

Re: JIMMY PAGE BOUGHT ME A DREAM THEATER DVD!!?!?!?!

Ok...the boots; 3 were already known. They are :

Pasadena Community College May 30th 1976

The Starwood, Hollywood June 1st 1976

John Muir High School, Pasadena 1975

Now even tho I'm a big VH fan, I'm not really into the bootleg game but Simon has 1000's in his attic. he also did the sound for Twisted Sister over here in the late 80's as well as loads of NWOBHM bands.

The track that is causing confusion is called 'Kicks' and , as the Mods here will tell you, is FUCKING AWFUL! The other one on this demo is called 'Gentlemen' but VanMan2000 (I think) put it in boots...I was pissed cos I thought I had something there...but this 'Kicks' remains a mystery. Imagine Dave Lee Roth joins the Partridge Family and you'll get the picture! Back me up here Eric, TJ, EJ?

So I'm waiting to see if anybody has this track and trying to find out its worth!!! I'll keep ya posted. I'm still amazed that I've discovered another music anorak my age!

Shit Wah, I actually saw Kicks being talked about on another site. I forgot to tell you about it. It is rare, but it is in fact out there. I think it may have even been the DLR Army where they were talking about it. I have it thanks to you, but it's too cheesy for me to ever play again

I don't mind posting it if it's already out there Sucka...the other track by the way is called 'Gentlemen' and to my ears sounds like an early version of the riff from 'Meanstreets'

Do you really wanna know??? Wah already said it's like DLR meets the Partridge Family. It's like the last song at your senior prom and instead of it being Richard Marx, it's this DLR shit! From 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I'm giving it a 9. I've heard cheesy from DLR, and this is by far the cheesiest of the bunch.

As far as puttin it up Wah I say its up to you. I know I saw some people talkin about it over at the Army, but nobody had the audio for it. I'm sure guys like Sarge have prolly already heard it for sure.

LOL Its up to you dude. I'm sure the fellas here would love to hear it no matter how cheezy it is. It's one of those audio clips that I'd love to throw at DLR during an interview. He'd prolly just laugh his ass off.
