There is no difference betweeen cd-r's that say music and those that say data. A cdr is a cdr. The only reason that some say music and some do not is marketing. That's it, I've used both types for both purposes and have had no trouble. I've also used the cheap ones with no problem. Imation makes a cheap unbranded line called SpinX that work great. My local Office Depot has 100 pack spindles for $29.99, haven't come across a bad one yet and have probably bought four or five of them in the last few months.
[/ QUOTE ]I had a no-name DVD player that I got free with my internet service--it played EVERYTHING (including DVDs from Japan, and VCDs from The Netherlands--thanks again, siN ) UNTIL one of my kids put in an Office Depot CD-r that was scratched up.
I had a helluva a time REMOVING it, and now I can't get any video!!!!
It took awhile just to find another DVD player that has no region restrictions on the types of discs it could play.
Some name brands will play some kinds, but not others, and vice versa
