My inactivity of late...
Hi everyone,
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I have been fairly inactive on these boards of late. You possibly haven't, but I know I have. Fewer mp3 listens, reviews, or posts by me, which is what this site is all about really.
Anyway, as some of you know, we went through a cancer scare with my brother in law. He went through chemo and radiotherapy and we were informed that they had got it all. He returned home and all was well.
Recently, his eye flared up once again. It was just under his nose the first time. Well, they had a look, and there was another tumour in his eyesocket. He couldn't have anymore chemo or radiotherapy, so it was straight into surgery.
Anyway, he had an 8 hour operation where they cut him from ear to ear, peeled the front of his face down, lifted his brain up, and went down form the top of his head to get to his eye socket. They removed the new tumour and all the scar tissue from his first tumour. Unfortunately, he had to lose his eye as well.
They took so much of his eye socket away that they then took some of the muscle from his jaw to rebuild it. This was the Tuesday before my Wedding Anniversary. He woke up on Thursday, and was feeling fine. We went to see him, and he was in great spirits, barely 48 hours after major head surgery.
He came back home the day after, on the Friday.
He was at home a week, when he had pains in his head. They called the ambulance, and by the time it got to him, he was clinically dead. They successfully revived him, and diagnosed it as meningitis. Apparently, you're highly prone to catching it if you have healing wounds and you are sent home too soon !
Anyway, that's neither here nor there now. Cuz yesterday, they put him on new drugs, and his headaches have stopped. He has been getting them since they took him off the morphine. But last night they told him that the results of the scar tissue scans have come back, and they are all cancer free, and his all over scan shows that he has no more tumours, and a blood test shows no signs there either.
Also, he gets to come back today !

So, hopefully, this time, we will get no more hiccups.
Anyway, that explains my relative inactivity on this board. I'd like to thank everyone for their support, even though a lot of you didn't know you were doing anything. But, by being yourselves, you've helped a mate out. I consider a great deal of people on here to be friends. So thanks once again.
As for my future activity on this board, I can only hope that I will phase back into full service as seemlessly as I phased into inactivity. But I've been inactive for so long, I can't say. Plus, this whole experience has made me re-prioritise things, so I'm spending more and more time away from the computer.
I'll never be gone for good, tough luck there, but if I still remain inactive, well, you know the reasons.
Hopefully, I will get Kayleigh knocked out there for VanMan to work his magic on, because I feel that I am ready.
Thanx for reading, and once again, thanx for the support. Pray that the big guy upstairs give my brother in law a break for a while, at least for him to enjoy a few games from the new Premiership Season !!!
