NASCAR 2004!!!

i've always been a big NASCAR fan and i'm so glad the season is kicking off again tonight!!!
i know it may ot be everybody's favorite sport, but i thought i'd start this thread for any of you that might be race fans also... i'm 35 years old and have been into nascar since i was 3 years old... i know some of you probably can't stand it or don't understand it, and that's ok [img]images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] (J/K)...

Ever since Big E passed away, I've lost my passion for NASCAR. But for some reason, this year I feel like the old fan I used to be. Good to see Junior get the monkey off his back early by winning the 500. Not sure how I feel about the new points thingy, we'll see if it enhances the sport. It's weird now because I don't have an absolute favorite driver anymore, but I can name three I definitely don't like: Jimmy Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick even though I still like his team/car, go figure).

3 years ago today, the whole sport lost a legend. Love him or hate him, he was good for the sport, and he is missed. Lots of people expected to show up at DEI today to remember. I'm an hour away, but I don't think I'm going to lay flowers or stand outside an iron fence in his memory. Not knocking people who do, but I don't think he would have cared much for it....

I don't really follow Nascar but from what I have seen over the years Dale was a class act, it seems like his son is following in the same foot steps keeping the legacy alive.
