Network calendar

I am looking for a low cost effective calendar that can be shared on a network. Exchange Server is way too pricey for this small offcie, and even Act at $150 per user is unattainable.

Suggestions? I know Day Timer used to have a calendar program called Day Timer 2000 which is no longer available. Can any one help a brother out?

Re: Network calendar

Hi Ej,

I guess (assuming you have a license for Excel) the cheapest thing would be to have a spreadsheet shared on the drive and either have one person responsible for updating it, or let everyone access it, but of course you'd hit the one person updating at a time problem.

Other that that, everywhere I've worked has had the calendar incorporated into the software. e.g. Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange and back in the old days the calendar was on the mainframe. So I don't know of any other way.

Will try to think of one though.

Another option would be a web based one, but that'd need a geezer with shit hot html / asp / etc. skills. You could ask eric I guess, he's not doing much at the moment.

Heh heh heh. That's it for my cheap ideas...

Re: Network calendar

It's a calendar that can be accessed, modified, updated and viewed by everone who is part of a network of computers.

Sort of how this website works and we can all access and update it. Only in the case Ej is after this website would be a calendar and all us users would be the people (and their computers) in his office connected by his Local Area Network and not the internet.

Re: Network calendar

Just get someone solely responsible, and when an event comes up on the calendar they whip out a megaphone, and yell, "Oi Bert, you've got that appointment with yer doctor about yer bum grapes at 4 p.m. !"
