Yes, there is a new guitar competition site! It is called " The Duel" and is up right now, but still has many bugs, and tweaking to do.. All of the features aren't up and working.. but you can see a prototype of it.. We desperatly need to find someone who has knowledge about PHP NUKE.. This site is like guitar battle, except more formal.. The voting system is Left or RIght, instead of 1-5 ( which can lead to bunk voting ).. also, bickering, and nonsense will NOT be permitted, and your post will be deleted.. This will be similar to GuitarWar for comments.. We want constructive critism, and not argueing, dissing, and the other nonsense that went on b4 guitar battle shut down.. The storage limit for mp3's is an amazing........................... 12 MEGS!!!!! So if you want to be an @$$, you can post a 256 kb song (laughs). I am not sure on if the songs will be stored on a different server for later listening, but i think they will be, but there will be less bandwidth.. About the bickering, there will be one place in the forum where arguing will be tolerated, to an extent at least, and you will be able to debate about things.. Forums are going to be a big part of this website.. ( watch out guitars101 [img]images/smilies/icon16.gif[/img] ) .. Other than that, there is a chat that you can log on to, there will be a yearly tournament, in which isn't decided completly yet.. but i think, the top 10 people on the site get to go in a tournament.. and the winner of the competition will be crowned with an amazing CUSTOM MADE guitar, curtacy ( i can't spell btw ) of Anekretia.. We are talking about a VERY expensive guitar here ( over 1,500 USD at least! ).. Free membership vs payed membership isn't final yet, and will be discussed.. but the site will start with a free membership for everyone.. The payed membership will be optional, and will have more features and prviledges.. the site may switch to only having a membership fee, but i'm sure it wont be much.. ( something like guitarwars ).. remember, this site needs to make enough money to pay for the custom guitars which will be awarded.. Oh yes, might i add, the members who pay will be allowed to compete for a guitar 2 or 3 times a year, rather than the 1 time a year, like the non paying members.. Ignorance, and people who purposely try and cause grief will be banned or suspended for a period of time, as this site hopes to stay very positive, and make you better at guitar ...This site will be for anyone who wants to play.. Right now there is 6 categories: Blues, Jazz, Bass, Metal, Rock, and Acoustic if i remember correctly.. there may be an other category for drummers and keybordists in the tuture.. hehe, oh yes for the love of god stay here, but this is just for battlin, advice, and havin fun.. i read you on the comparison thing.. some people get angry over debating on which of two great players is better, their both great, so why put anger into it.. hey Dannyboy, Honesty is respected as long as it isnt flaming, Rdemption Thx for the kind words...some of you know me from GB and you all here have my respect, we dont want to take anything away from eric, the original idea was just to re do guitar battle, but that isnt happening, not like I had in mind. I tried getting help from many. Ill say something else too, there are some people involved in this that seem to not be liked very well, as far as that goes, hear this.....THEY STEPPED UP WHEN NOBODY ELSE WOULD. I am not angry, not even upset, and i like to bicker and all that just like anyone else. and i am not in a position to complain, things are going well. I just missed GB and hangin out playin guitar with you guys, (even though some of you heavily tore me a new hole) that I had to do something, I couldnt just sit and let it fade.....hopefully those that have an issue with others can let go and just have fun, Danny I hear the corruption arguement i really do, but with everyones help and ideas we can keep that from happening. I have a lot of plans for the near future, things that will make your lives better, i have some very kewl ideas, that i cannot discuss right now and its killin me, but light will shine soon enough. Hello's & respect to Eric, and all members here. the battling portion is nearly finished...it wont be like anything else youve done, and it WILL be better, the prize guitars by the way, are custom order, you specify, I build and ship, you get a lifetime warranty on any guitar I build, i think that is well worth the two G's with all the quality i am putting into these.

Let me say this. By no means are we at THE DUEL trying to out do anyone. We dont want to be compared to Gwar or GB.com. We wish to be our own entity, and promote creativity and learning in the community.

I have no intentions of try to compete with Guitar101 Gwar or any other battle sites out there. This is meant to be FUN for everyone, and in the process get rewarded for your participation.

As far as Paying to duel on the site. There will ALWAYS be a free version. the paid memberships IF we decide to do them will offer more options, and more categories in which to try and win a prize.

The way we are worrking it for the annunal giveaway is the winner with the most votes at the end of the year will get a Custom axe from Caliber Guitar comapny. i want to thank Anekretia for offerin up such a huge prize, these axes arent easy to build nor cheap. They are TOP quality hand made in the USA guitars.

Im not looking for credit for saving GB or anything else, my friends whated a place to duel so i offered up some servespace and bandwidth to them. If it gets HUGE so be it. If it doesnt and we onlt have a small core group of users thats fine. I did it for my friends. I make no money at this, its something i do for fun.

As far as the voting, its fool proof, Every UserID is matched with their IP and Mac address, so the voting system cheks all 3 so there is no vote stacking. Its 100% fair. I also have strict rules about Voting and the Procees by witch you Aquire votes. All accounts that do not Duel at least once every 6 months will be kicked. Its that simple it helps to elimitate people inviting friends to just vote for them.

i did the for the community and not ME.
