PC or Mac?

I know this doesn't really belong on a VH message board, but I'm trying to get some feedback on this in other places and haven't had any luck. I've been a dedicated PC user for more than 10 years now and have just recently gotten into DVD creation on my PC. Quite honestly, I find the experience lacking on many fronts. The majority of the software out there for PC seems to be really clunky and just not very good. I've heard that video editing in general on the Mac is much easier and the resulting product is much better than what the PC is capable of. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually considering selling my PC to buy a Mac! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

This forum is open to any open discussion, including this Canyon Carver can probably shed some light on the Mac side of things for you, I have heard that they are good for graphics and such myself. One thing that I would keep in mind is that software for Mac's is quite limited compared to PC because Windows has most of the market so that my be worth researching a bit before trading it in.

DVD writing/editing is still in it's infancy so it will take some time to get up to speed regardless of what platform you are on. I am not sure about the Mac but I know that it seems like new software is coming out all the time for the Windows platform. All in all what I think it comes down to is hardware, it takes a lot of horse power and memory to edit video. I think in either case that's what you will be looking. Just my thoughts

The software that comes with the DVD writers is usually crap. To write the DVD's I use Roxio CD/DVD Creator 6.0 and to edit videos you can use ULEAD VideoStudio for simple easy editing that has a few effects built in, or you can use Adobe Premier for robust editing.

Hope this helps.

For Graphics and productivity like that, I much prefer a Mac. For pretty much everything else, I'm a PC guy. I'll take the platform stabilty issues in exchange for multimedia capabilities and as eric pointed out, compatibility with more programs die to the Windows chokehold.

I've used imacs for video production at school for the past 2 years. For amateurish video editing, they're way better than the pc's. But for word processing and using web browsers, PC's definitely win. And it's much easier to upgrade parts in a PC.

Re: PC or Mac?

All I can say is that I'm a big Mac fan because I use them all the time and know my way around everything. That doesn't make them better or worse than PC. I just feel right at home with a MAc as I feel they are very user friendly.
I can sit in front of a PC for hours and not be able to do anything with it. I'm feel like a caveman...
