People Stealing ISP's

OK, Im starting to get pissed. Everytime I come on this site, I cant download for days cause someone else is using my isp number. Is anyone else having this problem. And how can it be stopped, blocked or whatever. Its very aggravating that you have to wait a couple hours anyway between files, but when someone else uses your time, you have to wait days untill they get all they want, then you have to hope the file is still there that YOU want. If anyone is doing this here and reads this. Knock it off. Im gonna go look for tracking software now.

Not sure I have heard of this happening? Are you getting an error message when downloading?

It's been happening to me as well. I go to download, having not downloaded for days, and I get the message, I have to wait two hours or more, as I am either downloading at present or have just downloaded. I use a free account but would like to know how people can do this?

well if I had to guess it to be one of a few things...an ip masker using your said IP addy which would be rare that someone would know your IP...
Or...
you are running thru the same proxy server as someone else and the site is registering it as one IP and getting the message...

just a guess

Possible answer to the ISP issue

Hi all...I get the same thing, but as a very recent convert to FIOS, and a Looooong time 56k dialup person...I have one thought to offer. When I was dialup, I was given a random Ip address from a "pool" that Verizon had assigned to provide for those of us dialing in from say..location "X". That might include a set of 100 modems or more that would handle incoming dialup requests. Well with FIOS I think that the same thing occurs. They group large bunches of highspeed customers under a large umbrella of potential IP's and proxy them to one local massive handler on a T1 or better ..(gigabit or terabit main pipe) and therefore when we go after the freebie links to rapidshare or megaupload, we are seen by the providers as one user and are taxed by everyone of ourselves and our neighors also using it under the proxied IP we are all seen as eminating from. Therefore it shows that all of us get grouped together and therefore we get the time out. That's my theory after many years as an IT professional but not a guru of the highspeed world.

So! how to beat this problem?

Well, for what it's worth I started using the search engines to search for the search engines we want, and alternative download palces of choice that may also handle the files we want.

When you get sent to sharebee you will find a lot of these in use and usually get a choice of 4 download sources. So use badongo and sendfile, upload or others before rapidshare or megaupload. also gigasize want you to use IE explorer. If you use the pagesource or page info abilities of your netscape browsers you can actually see the links they want to send you to and just copy and paste them into whatever browser outside of IE that you may use..and go get your stuff.

Ok and then there are the search engines to help you find what you want aside form the two big repository places:

http://www.extensions.sharingengines.com/
http://www.cell.sharingengines.com/
http://www.filecrop.com/
http://rapidsharelinksearch.blogspot.com/

And finally the share sites that offer alternative download places to get the goodies. (And if you go there some have already set up the ability to search their sites for good stuff...and they DONT time you out or restrict downloads..at least not all..and if used as switchoffs against each other you can have you high speed or low speed modems humming all the time..)

I hope this serves the site better!

Just an after thought...

I use filecrop.com a good bit, and search for whatever I am after. You can click on the sites you want responses from (4) and can choose to NOT see rapidshare or megaupload responses. Also remember that most people cannot or purposefully misspell filenames so search the despciptions as well. With some of them you can actually see the file directories as well and go raid thier cookie jar for other files that you may have had to scroll through responses for ages to actually see...this can end up a big time saver..

you guys may already know this ..but I hope it helps a few..
