Property lines

I'm looking at land out in BFE on a lake. Problem is I'm not sure how things add up. When they measure acreage can they extend your property line way the hell out into the lake and then call it more than it practically is?

The land has 150' lake frontage, 150' of road access, and is 11 acres. If indeed it is the rectangular shape I think I found on this parcel map on the internet the property would extend like 2000' across the lake...and this parcel map shows that.

This seems rather low handed to me. Is that how this shit really works or what?

Not sure about the lake, but make damn sure that the property line is not fenced in on someone else's property or you could face "adverse posession" which means you don't have the full amount of property as you should

Hire a surveyor and have them check it out! It might cost a few bucks up front but that could save you miles of pain down the road!

Bah, I decided I'm not interested anyway. There are other options available that look better....like 40 acres of wooded land and a creek...

Sounds like a nice place to setup a military compound.

Plenty of room to bury your victims.
