Re: Service Pack 2 for XP

I only run XP on my Vaio laptop. I have been reluctant to update my main machine cos that is where I do all my recording to. I was reading that some people already had problems with Cubase, USB POD problems, etc. So I think I'll hold off on that box for now. It's runninf Win2K flawlessly and I have no pressing urgency to really change it. I'll let you know right after my reboot shorly if this machine is hosed

Re: Service Pack 2 for XP

SP2 was suspended and shut down last week by microsoft for about 36hrs or so.. There were reports of over 50-200 programs having conflicts with Windows XP as a result of the SP...They say its fixed. But as a rule. I never install anything on our network until at least 5 months after its been out there and MS fixes all the bugs..always happens..

Whic is exactly why it goes on the laptop first...nothing of importance there. As for work, I pity the Windows admins in Infrastructure. They always have to patch late into the evening and weekends on a regular basis. Me, I prefer unix. I do most of my work on a slackware workstation and I deal only in hp, solaris, and linux.

Been running for a while. Just seems to be a shitload of security enhancements. Difference this time, as opposed to some updating before, is there are no more updates after updating to SP2. I take this as a good sign. I ran every app and encountered no problems at all. If something breaks I'll letcha know but I think this one is good to go.
