I quit wacky over 10 years ago, and regular a little over 8 years ago. I used the patch. When I quit, I was on two packs a day, but at one point I got up to 5 packs a day. I was smoking a cig even as I ate uke: The patch sat in the kitchen for three weeks before I used them. every day I would look at them and say today is the day... After I smoke one more. One day I said screw it, and I crumpled up my pack and haven't looked back since Good for you Rain! Shoot me a PM if you need some support, I'm here for you!

I still smoke. I really need to quit. Im at about 1.5 packs a day. As for the whacky - it's a billion times better for you in comparison to cigarettes, and actually gives you a buzz.

Tried a cigarette once,, and totally said wtf this sucks so hated it. Never wanted to try pot. Had friends that smoked pot,, but told them to not ask me to get involved because i didnt even like cigarettes let alone that. I'll take some beer or liquor any day over the smoke.

Did the title of this thread strike anyone else as amusing? Smokin' Poll? Seriously though, I used to dip and had to quit as I had cells that were starting to change. The scare made me quit in a hurry. Since the fear has worn off now, I've starting smoking again. Only a half a pack a day but any is too much. We should start a New-Year's-Resolution-to-Quit-Smoking-and-Support-Group thread. It seems that most of those who say they smoke say they want to quit. It's best to do when other people are holding you accountable. As far as wacky goes, it's been a few years... Sometimes I miss it but usually I don't.

I did the obligatory rebelious cigarette smoking bit in high school for about 3 weeks (where a lot of people get started) but just never really liked it enough to continue. I didn't even SEE weed until freshman year in college (I went to 12 years of Catholic school) but have seen it about every day for about ten years now. I do not think that weed is a universally good thing for all people. It CAN promote laziness, over-eating, lack of ambition and poor decision-making/priority-setting (it tends to cause a person to make decisions based on immediate gratification as opposed to considering longer-term effects of that decision. For instance, eating 4 bowls of Cap'n Crunch at 3:30 in the morning may seem like a gift from Gawd at the moment, but the next morning you may find yourself toting around an extra pound of fat. Do this 2 or 3 times a week and it adds up). However, it does the complete opposite for me (except the over-eating part ). Any marijuana critics or cynics, please go to my online portfolio web site and view my art and design work, or listen to any of my posts here on G101, which represent a small fraction of the music I have written/recorded over the last ten years (approximately 94% of which was all crafted while under the influence of weed) and then try and tell me that weed is universally a bad substance. For me, it breaks down my inner artistic critic which tends to edit my ideas before having an opportunity to explore them fully and freely, and allows me to explore creative ideas that I would have never got to while sober due to pre-mature over-analyzation. Plus, it is like motivational speed for me. I can be so tired that I am ready to pass out, and take a few hits, and be up and ready to work on something creative like I was never tired in the first place. But as far as technical proficiency on guitar goes, I cannot play near as well live, or in a band scenario, while high (or drunk for that matter, although I play better high than drunk). So I would say that weed can be a very effective creative enhancer, but no so much a performance enhancer, at least for me. And, in closing, I would choose a joint ANY DAY over wine/beer/liquor (although I like it all in general).
Now, if I could get you all to swear not to contact my parole officer about this post, i would really appreciate it.
