Songs for my wedding...

Only 10 weeks away, and my missus to be told me to pick the songs I wanted playing when people are walking into the room. She said this cuz it's my opportunity to get the songs played that I want, at some time at the wedding (because she won't be in the room).

Ha ha ha !!!

Anyhow, I came up with these three songs for her, played them to her, and we both ended up crying. I don't know what I am gonna be like at the wedding now, but she's really touched by these songs and the words I have chosen.

Who said us blokes don't have feelings eh ?

Marillion - No One Can
Richie Sambora - In It For Love
Thunder - Love Worth Dying For

Lyrics

Marillion - No One Can

You landed in my life
Like a new and brighter light
That made all my past seem in the shadow
I always used to believe
That beauty was skin deep
But I need a new word to describe you
And the time that it took to take down the wall
Was the time that it took for me to fall
Hopelessly weak

No one can take you away from me now
Don't worry if they take me away
No one can take you away from me now
Don't matter how long we have to wait

The days before you came
Were really all the same
A greyness I used to call freedom
Endless nights out with the boys
The boasting and the noise
To think that I ever believed them

No one can take you away from me now
Don't worry if they take me away
No one can take you away from me now
Don't matter how long we have to wait

I don't care what they think
You're all I believe in
I carry you here
And there's something of you
In everything that I love

No one can take you away from me now
Don't worry if they take me away
No one can take you away from me now
Don't matter how long we have to wait
No one can take you away from me now
Don't worry if they take me away

Richie Sambora - In It For Love

Life is a road
forever winding where it leads us
I don't know

In it together
for better or worse
searching for our pot of gold.

Time
leaves a trail of broken hearts
so many arrows just keep missing
their mark

Baby that ain't us.

Nothing else matters
when you're in it for love
together we can only go higher

You can reach any rainbow
you're dreaming of
nothing else matters at all
when you're in it for love, baby
Yeah

We'll share in the laughter
share in the tears
and the promises we keep

Life can be crazy
love can be cruel
but it's always been a two way street

You try
and give it all you have to give
so many people don't know how to forgive
baby that ain't us.

Nothing else matters
when you're in it for love
together we can only go higher

You can reach any rainbow
you're dreaming of
nothing else matters at all
when you're in it for love, baby.

Solo

You try
and give it all you have to give
so many people don't know how to forgive
baby that ain't us.

Nothing else matters
when you're in it for love
together we can only go higher

You can reach any rainbow
you're dreaming of
nothing else matters at all
when you're in it for love baby.

When you're in it for love baby
in it for love

When you're in it for love baby
When you're in it for love baby
When you're in it for love baby

In it for love.

Thunder - Love Worth Dying For

Tired and weary, fraying at the seams
So disillusioned, I'd forgotten how to dream for just a while
I knew a change would have to come

So wrapped up in myself that I couldn't see the truth
But the moment I looked up, I knew I'd seen the future in your eyes
And my life had just begun

Cos they can take away the sun and rain
And everything I've ever owned
Let them have it all,
Cos you give me something more
A Love worth dying for

It's been such a long time, since I felt so strong inside
I know you're the reason
And the words can't quite express the way I feel
But they're all I have to use

Cos there ain't nothing in this universe
Can hold a candle next to you
And now my life's complete, since you opened up the door
With a love worth dying for

In the morning when the sunlight hits your face
It's such a beautiful collision, that nothing could replace

Cos they can take away the sun and rain
And everything I've ever owned
Let them have it all,
Cos you give me something more

Cos there ain't nothing in this universe
Can hold a candle next to you
And now my life's complete, since you opened up the door
With a love worth dying for

Re: Songs for my wedding...

We did "Hangin' By A Moment" for our dance song. It was the song of the month and we were singing it all the time. TBearbrat and I are pretty darn easy, so we just had a friggin' party. What was the song that we played as we walked down the isle (more like ran to the bar at the end of the isle)??? "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" by R.E.M. We also used Brian May's Wedding march when TBear walked up the isle. Bitchin' rendition, if you have not heard it.

Congrats, D-Man!

Re: Songs for my wedding...

For the dances, we're gonna have Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, and Bon Jovi's Thank You For Lovin Me.

Cheesy as hell, but these are the occasions for cheesey lyrics...

I haven't heard Brain May's version at all...

We're gonna have a ball. It's going to be a fusion of pop and rock. I can't wait !!! Steps' Tragedy, followed by Guns 'n' Roses' Sweet Child Of Mine.

Couldn't get more different !!!

Re: Songs for my wedding...

OK since it would be too easy to simply congratulate you, I'll suggest playing:

Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) from WASP.
You shook me all night long / AC/DC
Finish What You Started / Van Halen
Girls, Girls, Girls / Mötley Crüe
Love In An Elevator / Aerosmith
Also check out this chick rock band Nashville Pussy for some suble and tasteful lyrics.

So there you have it,... well at least it's a good choice for a batchelor party.

Seriously sounds like a fine bunch of songs you picked out

Re: Songs for my wedding...

Ah, I have yet to put together the play list for the rest of the reception evening.

My missus-to-be has suggested, "Some Bon Jovi medley", as the total involvement of rock music at the wedding, so I am going to have to revisit this...

Mind you, if it's anything like any other weddings, I'll be dancing on my own...

Do you know how quickly Living On A Prayer can clear a dance floor after Kylie Minogue has just been on ???

Re: Songs for my wedding...

Try Metallica's Nothing Else Matters to clean up the dance floor in a hurry!

Actually if you want to really fuck things up, try playing a crazy-ass song from Steve Vai's Flexable album (the one with the obnoxious Alien voices)

Re: Songs for my wedding...

Anything that isn't currently in the charts will give most people a headache to be honest !!!

However, come to think of it, it's a bit of a mixed bunch of cheese and rockers....

It will be interesting...

S Club 7 :

Van Halen :

At any one point in the night, 50% are gonna be and 50% are gonna be
