Re: Stanley Cup Finals. Devils vs. Ducks
Yea, EVH, I am a big hockey fan. Since I took down my satellite dish I have not been able to watch as much (I live in SoCal). They do show most of the Kings games down here, and I have been a Kings fan for many years. Incidentally, the last time that I saw EVH in person was at a Kings game!
The Ducks have certainly taken my heart. Partly because they are SoCal, and partly because I watched them since about Christmas and I could not believe how they turned it around. The left my Kings in the dust in the playoff race. There are some teams that I have always loved, and some that I hate. I can deal without the Red Wings being there and the Aves can go…well… I am a little tired of ESPN’s games having either the Wings, Aves, or Rangers. There ARE more teams in the league!
Enough about that, now for the playoffs: I have liked the Devils for years. I just loved Claude Lemieux and those years, and I like Robinson. I mean, how much of a man can coach a team to the Cup, then get fired, and then come back as a subordinate and be happy? He is a respectable man. I really wanted to see the Senators go because of the state of hockey in Canada (and the Sens are the poster team for that issue).
I think that Jersey can beat the Ducks as long as they keep the pace up. When the Ducks control the game, they keep it tight and their opponents can’t get anything started. Even at the expense of getting a little sloppy, the Devils need to just get the game OUT of the Ducks hands. You cannot be tied with the Ducks late in the game. Every game this playoff…and I mean every…the Ducks start turning on the heat with 5 minutes left, and don’t let up. It is pretty amazing to watch because it is old-style hockey; a strategy that most coaches feel cannot work with today’s speed. It is a great series so far.
