I don't really know what to make of this. I wish I knew what evidence the police had that they are the bombers. It doesn't make any sense that they would be. On the other hand if the story is being repported well then I find it rather surprising that all these people who are surprised they did it are even accepting that they did. If someone I knew that appeared to be, "...the type of guy who would condemn things like that," was suddenly the suspect of a terrorist plot I wouldn't be so ready to accept the polices' assertion that they had been anything but another victem; the fact that everyone is turning over and agreeing that they must have worries me...but then at times like this people say and agree to strange things.
It is also very scary if true. What happened to make a group of people do this while being seemingly normal people before hand? Two of the three are kids and I don't see them as being able to be "sleepers" without having exhibited some potential. Of course, maybe they did and nobody recognized it; the one kid did start becomming "heavily religious" two years ago...maybe he was beginning to show sings of zealotry and nobody payed enough attention.
If someone you know as a friend could do this, or worst...some friend's son or daughter...then there just is no protection. Whoever armed and triggered these kids needs to be found and dealt with. Hopefully when they are found we are given the opportunity to question them on how they did it. What did they say or show to these kids to make them do this? If we find that out we may be able to educate our youth enough to avoid future like events. There are disgruntled youth everywhere but something is wrong with the way things are if someone can come along and use that to carry out terrorist attacks. This is actually the most terrorizing terrorist threat yet.
If these kids really are the culprits then this problem runs much deeper than terrorism itself. This is a problem with our society itself and how it treats or educates its young people. And no, I have no fucking idea what to do but I do know we can't go terrorizing every young muslim or potential muslim. I think education has to be the key to answering this type of thing, I just don't know what needs to be taught beyond love and tollerance and there isn't an obvious lack of that in these kids' lives that we have been privy to so far. Whatever is needed though we need to find it and provide it or the future is looking bleek indeed.
