UPS IS HORRIBLE!!!
Venting here... I have repeatedly had problems with UPS screwing up when I use them for shipping. Some of you may have remembered earlier this year a guitar received from UPS looking like an accordian. The box was literally crumpled with pieces of a guitar sticking out of it, and UPS still delivered it and acted like this was supposed to be normal!
Aside from losing packages as well, I just ordered some stuff for my dad that UPS claimed was delivered yesterday according to the website. No friggin' packages are anywhere to be seen! I look all over, then call UPS. Eventually, I get in touch with the person who is "going to help sort everything out". She asks me if I looked outside... I almost lost it, but bit my tongue very hard. UPS claims the package was delivered, but it is nowhere to be seen! This is like the fourth time in 6 months these nmorons are jacking with my stuff!!!! Am I the only one? ARGGGGHHHH!!! [img]images/smilies/wutblau.gif[/img] Monday she will start the process to see where the package was left. It doesn't seem to matter that the driver wrote down it was delivered... Dumb asses. [img]images/smilies/icon_confused.gif[/img]

I remember that guitar, man I would have completely lost it. I shipped a server to Columbia, SC from Oregon and even though it was well packaged it arrive all fucked up, bent and twisted. We payed for insurance and they denied all responsibility so we were just fucked, nothing we could do about it.
All I know is that they could care less what's in a package. They toss it around and put heavier packages on to lighter packages and let them slide and fall in their trucks. That's the only thing I can figure, I say it's time to boycott these fuckers, we completely stopped using them at my work and are going with Fed Ex, they seem to at least care what's in a package.

Yep I understand, When I ordered My Wolfgang i also ordered 2 dozen picks, The guitar was fine because it had that hardshell case, but the picks were everywhere in the package, even in between of the flaps that close the box! It took me 10 minutes to find all the damn picks. [img]images/smilies/icon_rant.gif[/img]
My stepdad is a regional manager for UPS, Ill pass these things on to him because he has the power to say You're Fired! If you still have the tracking number send it to me in a private message and ill hand it to him.

well lemme tell ya somthing there bucky, you learned the hardway as I did, I ship guitars all over the world and have had more trouble with UPS than Anyone, next would be FedEx , UPS had lost 4 of my guitars and Fedex 2,
the ones from UPS were eventually found but the 2 from Fedex never seen again.
Now you know who I have had Zero trouble with ? the Good Ole USPS they are cheaper and the their priority Global and Domestic is as fast as anyone needs.
Oh one other thing about UPS you are buying INS in most cases just against loss because their packing rules are so anal they never pay , I had 2 guitars damaged in shipping *in a Hardcase* *they broke the dam hardcase* yet I did not have it packed well enough ?? ummmmm it's in a hard shipping case inside a box surrounded by foam [img]images/smilies/headscratch.gif[/img]
but they said I needed 2 1\2" of packing around the entire contents in the box, well with packing like that they don't need to be careful no wonder.

Wow, you guys vented a couple of days too late. I sent a package to my daughter in Utah just a few days ago, dam, and wouldnt you know it, I sent it by UPS!!!! Well we will see if she gets it, what shape the stuff is in. Just my luck though, You guys need to speak up sooner. It's been awhile, but sent a package through the regular post, It took my girlfriend nine months to recieve it, the contents were for her newborn baby, let me tell you, Kids grow fast in nine months! some of the stuff she never got to wear.

I was just looking at the UPS site, checking on my new guitar, then i read this...ACK!

actually, it seems to be something specific about guitars that causes the problem... at my job, i ship at least 5-10 packages a day with UPS, not to mention usually receive at least that many a day too... very rarely have we had any problems with it (maybe 3 times in the 2 years i've been there)...
BUT... the one guitar i ordered off of ebay arrives via UPS and guess what... DAMAGE!!! but, really upon inspection, most of the problem was in the way the shipper packed it...
i also got my OLP via UPS from musician's friend, and it was perfect...
but i still understand the frustrations voiced in this thread...

Well I did check ups online, it was suppose to have arrived today. Hopefully it did. Ill see tomarrow. Hopefully everything is okay and undamaged. at least its not lost.
