Hell, I would constantly rewind and play, over and over, just to hear the first power chord of Hotter Than Hell, from Alive I.....that one chord, those first two notes....and there's a barely audible click o'the stick just before, to cue all the air guitarists in.....
THAT one chord, and those two notes did it for me....
that, and the instrumental piece at the end of Black Diamond....
tell me that doesn't kick some ass....
Also I loved the galloping rhythm of 100,000 years..I would set up the whole 360-degree drumset of pillows on Mom's couch before that tune, bcause of the 6-8 minute drum solo contained therein....
Then came Boston 1, which I still have a Japanese pressing (vinyl) of,
and
'Aerosmith Live Bootleg', with that WICKED, NASTY, GREASY live cover of Come Together....fuck THAT's som erighteous stuff right there....
Those pictures on that cover...
I had to have some of that mojo.....

I can relate man. Kiss Alive, Kiss Alive II, Double Platnium and Destroyer were my favs.
Funny thing was - our neighbors up in Duluth were I grew up were musicians. And they used to ridicule me for my love of the band Kiss. They said I was wasting my time listening to them because they said it was just a fad. How wrong they were and how right we were - because Kiss became the #1 Rock and Roll band in the world.
My room up in Duluth was plastered with Kiss posters on every wall.

I wanted to be a pianist and never wanted to play guitar at all, but my piano teacher was terrible and I lost the motivation. Then we started guitar in school, I still hated it. My friend was telling me that I should buy an electric guitar and play with him (he was a drummer) so I asked my mom to get me one for my birthday, although I didn't really want one. I invited this guy who sings the blues to my birthday party and he came with his guitarist who took my guitar and started playing around. He did some things that I never knew were possible and I immediately got interested. Then one day my friend brought me a Hendrix CD and I was amazed, I didn't listen to anything other than Hendrix for a year but I still didn't take guitar very seriously. Then, last summer, I found an SRV video on Youtube, then heard Vai's For The Love of God. I then realised that the guitar was not a toy and really started practicing but I still can't play Hey Joe or Voodoo Child like Hendrix can... Oh well...
