I have found that http://yousendit.com has been more than adiquate for my file transfer needs. 1G *per* file limit and as far as I know there is no limit to how many files you can send. You upload a file to them and they send an email to the recipient with a url that will last for 7 days from which they can get it. Works wonderfully well.
