It changes depending on what mood I am in, wahwah.

This week it is Luke Morley from Thunder. I just love this guys rhythm and the way he plays acoustic. He's just got this beautiful strumming technique.

But here's a whole bunch of others who easily get into that second spot from time to time :
<ul type="square">[*]Steve Rothery[*]Dave Gilmoure[*]Paul Gilbert[*]Richie Sambora[*]Jason Becker[*]Angus Young[*]Santana[*]Bryan May[*]etc...
I met Luke and Danny when I auditioned for Terraplane (this was the name of the band before they changed it to Thunder) and I very nearly got the gig! BUT second may as well be 4,000,000th! Luke is a great songwriter first and a great guitarist second IMO but Danny has a voice that is a mix of Roger Daltrey and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick). I think one of the reasons I didn't get the gig was that they were all South London guys and mates who hung out together all the time...and I was a geordie! It sounds better than they thought I was pants on the guitar! We're talking 1984 here by the way!

Re: Who\'s your SECOND favourite guitarist???

I'm more of a feel guitarist, and the guy's playing moves me !

My brother has met them all many times, and says they are good guys. I love Danny's voice, I could listen to him sing all day. Him and Steve Hogarth from Marillion.

Anyway, that is a cool story, wahwah. I know of Terraplane. You're right that he is a great songwriter, but he really lets the feel come across in his playing, and I love that much more that your million notes a second stuff.

Re: Who\'s your SECOND favourite guitarist???

Thought I'd better mention mine as I started the bloody thing!
1. Bill Nelson, Be Bop Deluxe-he got me started in wanting to play.
2. Paul Gilbert. A true virtuoso.
3. John Petrucci, Dream Theater...see above!
4. Doug Aldrich, Burning Rain, Dio, Whitesnake, great player in the George Lynch mould
5. George Lynch..well, it wouldn't be fair to mention the guy above without George being involved!
6. Alex Lifeson. No-one sounds like Alex.
7. Neal Schon. Great feel and soul.
8. Stevie Ray Vaughan...same as above.
9. John Sykes. Brilliant tone and gorgeous vibrato
10.Zakk Wylde. Excellent aggression! The solo to Miracle Man still gives me fucking shivers!
11.Vai
12.Satch
13.Gary Moore. An early hero of mine until I met him!

...and about another 600 you might and might not be as familiar with including Dan Huff, Dave Meniketti, Reb Beach, Joe Perry, Dave Giilmour, Mike Slamer (check out Steelhouse Lane), Nuno Bettencourt, Angus Young, Pat Travers, Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham, Yanick Gers, Ty Tabor, Tom Morello, Jeff Beck, Randy Rhoads, Kelly Joe Phelps... I love guitar!
