Crossing Over

I know that most of you have this one, or SHOULD have this one for that matter. This is a tune that was left off of the Balance album, and is dedicated to the late VH manager Ed Leffler. For those of you who have never heard this one, here ya go. One of VH's best that's for sure. Rest In Peace Ed.

I really like this tune. I didnt like Balance much. The 7th seal rocked. This is a cool tune.

Re: Crossing Over

As I recall, (source forgotten) I believe that the lyric echos that you hear were recorded years away from the front vocals that you hear now... I believe they were recorded for an earlier version of the tune that never came to be... it was later re-worked and the original lyrics were muffled so that the new lyrics could be heard over top of them.

If anyone could verify this for me, I'd appreciate it... I distinctly remember reading about this, but for the life of me, I can't remember where.

Re: Crossing Over

You're correct. Apparently Eddie had written this track as far back as 83 I believe. He wrote it after a friend of his committed suicide. He did all the guitar, bass, drums, and I'm guessing vocals or atleast some lyrics. They later reworked this tune in memory of Ed Leffler, and IMO did a very good job.

Re: Crossing Over

Sweet, sweet tune. I remember how disappointed to learn that it had been left off of the US Balance release... I had to order the Japanese release from The Inside as soon as they had it available... Plus I dig rarer and alternate cover arts... I'm wierd like that.

Awesome song though, starts out so slow and mellow, and it ends up incredibly angry and aggressive. It has a way of drawing in attention. Great tune.

Sucka,

I hate to request something so old and common, but my copy of Crossing Over was destroyed. Is there any chance you could repost a link for me to download it?
Thanks in advance

Pretty cool song. In reworking it, Al did the drums but they kept Ed's drums in the final mix (panned to the right I believe). It sounds like Ed's bass track made it to the final mix as well.

Thanks Sucka. You make this site worth visiting.
