It would be great to see this movie on DVD...the entire musical score is done by Edward. Many of the songs that went into 5150 and OU812 came from snippets of this score. If you listen close, you'll recognize them! One thing that I really like is the opening music after the kid blows up the statue at the beginning of the film at the HS. Would have made a nice song...This can be found on the Dawn of 5150 bootleg.
I remember reading an interview where he discussed it a bit... Apparantly it's all him and he did it with Don Landee working the board... I seem to recall it was also nominated for a Grammy for soundtrack or something...
I checked and Donut City was nominated for a Grammy in 1984. Edward lost to Yes... But here are the nominees:
Best Rock Instrumental Performance
* Yes - "Cinema"
*Genesis - "Second Home by the Sea"
*Lionel Hampton - "Vibramatic"
*Edward Van Halen - "Donut City"
*Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)"
