Eddie busts out the classics

"5150" Tour from the Spectrum in Philly, August 1986

Eddie plays Beethoven's "Fur Elise." I hadn't heard this for a while. Awesome! Glad to have found it again ... and to be able to share with y'all. Good quality, too.

I've never heard it live, but I love when Eddie slips in these little surprises!

Enjoy!

I remember and interview where Ed talks about this. He said he & Al were having an argument over which key "Fur Elise" was written in so to prove it, Ed played it during his solo as sort of an inside joke/stab at Al.
Its just amazing that Ed can hear a sound in his head and then replicate it on guitar without any written music or anything.

Same here dude.

Whenever I hear him play this though, I think of the movie Crossroads. There's a scene in there where Eugene aka Ralph, plays this classical piece in front of his class, but then busts out some blues licks at the end of it. The teacher pretty much rips him for it because he wasn't staying true to the art form.

Everytime I listen to Ed play Fur Elise, I can just see the classical snobs gettin pissed off cause he's Halenizing it.

I think it's rad.

Far as I’m concerned, Eddie’s the complete package. Technique aside, his rhythm playing, feel, songwriting, tone, riffs, leads, man, it’s all there. It’s like the best-tasting beer you ever drank in your life! ~Zakk Wylde
