The Gene Simmons Vh Demo's
These came via a guy (who I think might have registered here now...hi mate!) from Oz who had some Black Rose stuff from me. He sent me those great SRV at Reading Festival mp3's and now he's sent me these!
Sucka is the expert and reckons they're out there but they'll go down well. Sound quality is great. Enoy and listen out for the riffs from songs that came WAY later on.
1. On Fire.
2. Women In Love.
3. House Of Pain.

That "house of pain" is always wicked! I remember there being an On Fire from this session with out vocals. Anybody have that?

Yes, Gene Simmons produced these demo's. You can hear the KISS influence on Women In Love.

Far as I’m concerned, Eddie’s the complete package. Technique aside, his rhythm playing, feel, songwriting, tone, riffs, leads, man, it’s all there. It’s like the best-tasting beer you ever drank in your life! ~Zakk Wylde

The story goes that Gene heard the band and asked if he could produce a demo and get them some industry interest. Unbeknown to everyone else though, he was trying to get Eddie to join KISS! Wonder what his fucking character was gonna be?!

Killer shizzle! Thanks!
Sounds like Zero a little bit, but better quality. Wasn't Zero recorded with Kiss' instruments on a quick trip to NY? This tone sounds a little more Van Halenized, but it does have the Kiss production touches on it for sure.

I recall hearing those rumors back in the day...lol. Probably way after the fact but no matter how you slice it Gene Simmons might be a real s.o.b. but he's a very savvy business man!

And to add a bit to that. There really were no interest in VH when Gene shopped their demo around, so he thanked them and let them go and find a deal on their own. They got a deal to WB and the rest is history as they say.
