Van Halen, Oldest Lost Tape. Live 1977
Got alot of Sam and Gary stuff up here, so it's about time we get some Classic Van Halen up here. Here's VH live at the Whisky a Go Go, in 1977. A little trivia for ya. The guitar intro to Show No Mercy, is exactly the same as Take Me Back (Deja Vu). Pretty cool, eh? Well, you'll think so.

Far as I’m concerned, Eddie’s the complete package. Technique aside, his rhythm playing, feel, songwriting, tone, riffs, leads, man, it’s all there. It’s like the best-tasting beer you ever drank in your life! ~Zakk Wylde

Thanks Sucka! Did anybody catch the "car horn" sound effect in Voodoo Queen? I remember Ed took a bunch of car horns from the junk yard and mounted them to a board. They used them for noise makers during shows. You can hear it at the beginning of running with the devil on the first album.

Little trivia about "The Shape You're In"
This is the only known recording of this song and quite possibly, the only time it was ever performed live. On the intro, Dave says something about it being the first time they are playing it and this show was from June 1977 and shortly afterward, the band would begin working on VH1 with Warner Bros. They did not play many shows the second half of 1977. Most likely, this then-new song got forgotten about and never fully developed.

Yea he did lose the fire so to speak, but I don't think he's ever lost the passion to play. It's just ashame that he'll never be able to reach back and play like he did when he was younger. But the same could be said for many of our great musicians. It sucks.
