VH -"Rules are for Fools"

http://www.vhboots.com/rulesfools.html

This is a very cool boot. Your gonna love it!!! I got this from a co-worker in 1987. He knew I was a big VH fan and lent me this record. I taped it back then and now I've copied it to my computer for you all to have! You can hear some record snap, crackle and pops.

You will notice some differences from the vhboots page;

Track 7 is "Down In Flames" not "Stop Tryin'"
Track 16 is "Black Star" This is not a VH song so I'm not including it here. I don't want to continue this misconception.
Tracks 17, 18 and 19. I've broken these sound check tunes (without any vocals) into individual songs. They are not grouped together so the end track listing will not be the same.

Remember I'm on dial-up and this will take me many weeks to post. Hang tight and wait for it. It will be worth it! VH fans rule!

2. I'm the One 3:57

Andrew
Thanks mate. I look forward to the show over time. Patience is something Australian fans have bucket loads of.

Here's a little useless trivia from the 3rd bootleg I ever owned, and one of my favorites.....

Just so everyone knows, those vocal-less "demos" at the end are actually the soundcheck from Pasadena Civic 10/15/77 (formerly dated 12/20/77).
Mean Street would more accurately be Voo Doo Queen at the time.
Also, "Real Go Getter" is actually "79th & Sunset" and its Dave solo from a Jimm Ladd interview in 1982.

This is one of the first VH bootlegs to come out around 1985 or so. I still have the actual LP at home, complete with those bogus gold stickers they used to put on it!!

Not to bring up the whole "Black Star" debate (which has been confirmed not to be VH of course), but I remember one of the hot rumors way back when was that it was a "secret audition" from 1977 in which WB had VH record a demo with Sammy since WB did not like Dave.

Really great post eric!! Could you post those three tracks that have no vocals??? I've been looking for those forever! In regards to your mentioning black star, after 25 years of thinking that might be van halen, it was only the last couple months that I learned it was actually George Lynch's band "The Boyz". Still love those tunes: did a cover of "Black Star" last month and am working on "All that I Need" for next month (just for the curious).

They're up here already Strat. Check out the Nightmare B4 Halloween gig I posted.

Sucka's got it covered. The live stuff from Rules are for Fools is from the Whisky 12/31/77. Really cool show.

Sorry this is taking me so long. I'm at the tail end of moving. I decided that after living in this condo for 12 years it was time to shack up with my girlfriend and buy a house. When I paint next week I'll keep on posting these tunes. It will be done soon!!!
