Hi All,
I was just out searching youtube.com and entered van halen and after 19 pages of copying the links and brief descriptions of each vid into notepad, I thought maybe I could save some of the community time in getting what they want.
I know you all can do so as well, but I didnt see anything about how to convert them for free here, so you all can burn what you want to DVD.
http://www.zamzar.com will convert the flv's to any format you want for free and then when they are done, send you a link to download the converted file. Of course, after that you can burn a DVD. For those of us without any DVD's for trade or not in the torrent biz, this could help us get a few nice concerts or at least compilations of that which we like. So..that's what I was thinking when I decided to post this. Hopefully it will help the community out with the video side. I could be all wet, but i hope I'm helping out. What I compiled is not sorted so bear with me. They didnt come sorted.

One of rock and roll's longest lasting feuds came to an end today as Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth took the stage at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, warmly embraced each other and announced the details of the long-rumored Van Halen reunion tour. Alex Van Halen and the group's new bass player Wolfgang Van Halen (Ed's sixteen-year-old son) were also on hand to announce the outing, which kicks off September 27th in Charlotte, North Carolina and runs through December 11th in Calgary, Alberta. More dates are expected to be forthcoming.

Story - in autumn of 1984, Kramer Guitars and Guitar magazine (formerly Guitar for the Practicing Musician) announced a "dream come true contest." The dream prize: one of Eddie Van Halen's personal Kramer guitars, presented to the winner by Edward Van Halen himself at the 1985 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in Anaheim, California.
In January 1985, Michael Gutierrez of Sacramento, California, awoke early one morning to a phone call that nearly 100,000 other entrants had only daydreamed of: Kramer President Dennis Berardi informed Michael that he was about to become the only Van Halen fan on the planet to own one of Ed's classic Kramer stage guitars. (And the lucky sucker did it with just one entry!)
When the big weekend event arrived in February, a film crew on hand documented the event. As excitement and enthusiasm grew in the form of a large crowd circling around Edward and Michael, NAMM officials decided it best to play it safe by whisking Eddie away in one direction and Michael in another. The two met up later that night at a NAMM-hosted party; however, the private guitar lesson and autographing of the guitar, scheduled for the following day, never took place for a variety of reasons.
Edward and Michael have spoken on many occasions throughout the past 20 years, and Michael plans to have Edward finally autograph the instrument when the current Van Halen tour rolls through Michael's hometown in late November.(UPDATE - THE NOVEMBER 2007 CONCERT HAS PAST AND NO SIGNING AGAIN)

- Story Please Note: There have been many comments left on these Van Halen Cabo videos about how the camera work sucks, and that the cameraman is an idiot for panning away during Eddie's solos. I agree 110% When I first saw the "dailies" when the crew got back from Cabo, I was very disappointed.. I too wanted to see Eddie's great guitar work...
BUT, In defense of the cameraman, a lot of Producers are clueless when it comes to the shots we musicians / fans enjoy... The Producers are only looking for "video bites" (B-Roll), to edit in with other audio material... So we can't really blame the cameraman in all the Van Halen / Cabo videos I have posted, as he is just doing what he was told to do. Now, that being said...

This is a great version of Wild Thing done by Van Halen, and guest performers Brad Delp of Boston and Steve Lukather of Toto, at the opening of the 1st Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas. This was shot when Eye On LA did a story for the local ABC affiliate. The sound was taken from the mixing board and really shows the intricate technique of Eddie. There is some audio break-up and hiss, as the audio capture device was wireless. Needles to say, with all the electrical sources in the Cantina, there is bound to be some break-up. Check out the awesome taps, dive bombs, trills, hammer ons and offs, etc. as Eddie just rips. The guy is definitely a Guitar Virtuoso....

I tried to skip the tribute bands, the anime's to some VH tune, and the "some guy playing a vh toon" stuff to get to the real VH stuff. You may want to revisit the pages if I missed anything.
What I collected was for a reason beyond the obvious.
With the links I gathered and the descriptions, all of you can then go to
www.zamzar.com. There you can then copy and paste these links into their sight and they convert these vids for free to any format you want. When they are done (and you entered in your email to recieve them), they send you an email to say they are all converted to your format of choice, you download them to your drive, and you can blast them into a DVD as you see fit. Thats why I have the descriptions with the cryptic video names, so you can re-associate the video names with the cryptic filenames. Collect all the vids of a concert and you are good to go. Most of the time you will not get them to sync up so trying to make a continuous vid is hard, but making yourself a little DVD menu while authoring and just playing them individually or one after another is not too shabby, as opposed to trying to trade if you have no vids to offer, or buying them. This lets you control what you want to see and how it will turn out. After page 19, things started to go downhill and i got things like Alvin and the chipmunks, but feel free to see if new stuff has shown up.
