November Contest Theme - 2005
Since the theme for December will be rather specific (Christmas/Holiday tunes), let's do another laid back theme for November 2005. Your task is simply to record an original song or sound recording. Anything goes here except there must be at least 1 guitar in the recording. Since the next couple of month's themes will have rules and parameters, i thought this would be a good way to explore some boundary-less creativity before adding some rules into the mix in the coming months. This is your chance to record/post that song you've always thought was strong, but never really fit the contest themes. Have fun with this and go nuts!
Entries must be submitted by the time I post the voting poll on December 1st.

So - does that mean no cover tunes?
Just curious.

Yes, that is correct. No covers....must have at least one guitar in it. Go nuts with this month's comp, as the next couple months will have a bit tighter parameters. If you don't have an original recorded already and would like to enter, I would encourage lots of exploratory experimentation. It deosn't have to be a "song." You could do a soundtrack for a fictitious movie, or a commercial jingle, or do a recording using a guitar line, but use a microphone and record household items for the other instruments (i once knew a guy who got a great rhythm sound by recording himself running a ball-point pen along the coiled wire of a spiral notebook......just an example of an idea). anyway, I hope some peeps get creative this month since I have basically throw pretty much all rules out the window....other than that there must be at least one guitar in it and it can't be a cover tune.

Go back and read the instructions for the October contest. I was trying something new to provide people with more time to prepare entries (giving everybody the whole month). The first week of the contest is sometimes rather slow for entries, so I thought we could try to see how it worked by having the voting during that fisrt week.

I don't know what the backer is, so I cannot tell for sure, but that sounds like it might be pushing the parameters a bit too far for an "Original" song or sound recording, since someone else actually comosed to backer chords/progressions. If you can email me the backer so I could see if it has enough room for original interpretation, then I may allow it. Otherwise it would fall under the category of "Original guitar solo" or whatever. Does that make sense? If not, PM me with more details and i will take a closer look at it. Thanks for chacking it first though

I decided to go with an original backing. I'll send you the backing, you be the judge.

Sounds like a fun contest KC, but I'm going to save all my energy for December.

Sorry guys, please have some patience with me. I am in the midst of one of the most busiest work weeks I have ever had (lots of extra hours and I have only got to take a lunch break once this week). I will get the voting poll up tonight after work and also post the announcement for the Theme for December.
